They came out in the first half and were just stroking it. We finally started switching up, which was actually what we were supposed to be doing from the beginning but we just started listening to coach ... We were just supposed to be switching up on players and getting out on their shooters and make them beat us from the inside.

Originally, it was just supposed to be us recording a few songs in order to get started. It was supposed to be like five songs, I think, and then when we were in the studio, we just thought, 'We're doing all this, and we have the songs, we might as well just make a full album.' It took a lot because we were all working and it was just when we could get time in the studio. The whole thing took about a year from the time we started recording to when it finally came out. The actual recording time probably was two weeks.

When we changed defenses and started switching, we needed players who were versatile and quick like Bobby.

That was what the players were saying - 'We have to get stops,' because they were kind of having their way with us there for a little while. So, they just buckled down, and we started switching everything. ... We just put a smaller lineup out there on the floor and switched everything and hoped that we could do a better job containing them.

I think in the second half we started to play much better. We started switching the ball from one side to the other. We had some guys running to the ball. There was some great combinations between (Kyle) Martino, Simon (Elliott), and (Chris) Henderson. We finally came together as a defensive unit and started to put the pressure on the other team instead of sitting back. That really made the difference in the second half. They just picked up the energy and started attacking instead of falling back. That made all the difference. Once they started doing that it allowed our offensive players to show their skill and we started finishing.

Defensively we started to zero in on guys (in the second half). We just had to do a better job of (identifying) shooters. Offensively, in the second half we got our act together and started moving the ball. More guys started scoring and that made a big difference.

We weren't supposed to beat Michigan State, and we beat them. We weren't supposed to beat North Carolina, and we sure weren't supposed to beat Connecticut. So I think we're going to just stick with the script. If folks want to call us a Cinderella, then that's OK.

Every one of them great football players. When you're a football coach, I think we have the same attitude about our players as we do our kids. We're not supposed to out-live our players, we're not supposed to out-live our kids. That's just not the way life should go to make for a happy time. When you lose somebody like this, it's really like losing family.

I've grown so much since 1996. I think that was the turning point of when I started to go to church every Sunday and not just because you're supposed to. But because you enjoy going and listening to the Word and being excited about it.
