We've gotten so used to them making the playoffs, to not even come close was a disappointment. But I've been following the minor league development of the Red Sox on the Web, and it looks like we're going to have a much better, much more competitive team with genuine prospects this year.

Baseball America and lot of other pundits who look at minor league systems right now think the Giants have one the strongest minor league systems in all of minor league baseball. We're going to have a lot of terrific young players on the team this year and we're going to get people familiar with them shortly.

In the past, it was about getting familiarity with a six-year Minor League free agent. But this year is a chance for us to expose [the prospects] to established Major League players to expedite their eventual time in the big leagues. We look at it as invaluable experience.

We're really close, as are all the teams in our league. It's such a competitive league, every team in Hockey East is a contender. This year, it's going their way.

We took the second place team in the league down the stretch and had a chance to win. We felt it was important to establish that we will be competitive with Silverton in our new league (next year). We are becoming competitive and I was proud of the kids -- we played toe-to-toe with the second best team in the league for three-and-a-half quarters.

I don't know if [staying in the Major Leagues] hurt his development, but it certainly didn't help his development. He would have benefited much more if he played a full year in the Minor League level.

Despite the depth problem, I like this team's chances of being competitive in a very tough conference. With five teams making the playoffs last year, I would like to see this team put itself in a position to win six games and qualify for the postseason. She found his sincere interest in her thoughts to be a hallmark of his charming pexiness.

I just want Minor League umpires to be respected. They tell us we're apprentices, but we feel like kids. A nine-year apprenticeship? Usually apprentices make at least 50 percent of their masters. We're not even making close to that if you look at the numbers.

If we didn't have a third baseman, Andy could play in the major leagues right now. Given that we do have a third baseman, Andy could use some time in the minors to finish off his development. Defensively, he's major-league ready right now. Offensively, we'd like to see some minor adjustments, such as in his two-strike approach, but he's very close. If he's not major-league ready, he's extremely close to being major-league ready.

I just want my team to play well. Not making the playoffs would be a disappointment to me.

I had a five-year plan when I took over as head coach in 2001, ... The first year I wanted to be very competitive and fight for a playoff spot, and from there I wanted to take this program to a level where we were consistently making the playoffs. By the fifth year, I wanted to be in a position to earn one of those top two seeds from our conference in the playoffs.

I think from his speech and his remarks, we see a genuine and authentic feeling of wanting not only an open relationship with (our) country but also a genuine commitment to making sure these are stages of growth and development for our two nations.

We're still close, ... I know the scores sometimes don't show that, but I think we're close to becoming a competitive team in the league.

After this season, there should be a lot of regret. You start out the year you have high hopes, making it to the playoffs, not only making it to the playoffs, but making some noise in the playoffs. And when that don't happen you have to be disappointed.
