We're going to run some split back veer and power stuff. It's kind of a retro look for us.

On the pitch to Overbay, the split kind of stayed up a little higher than I wanted it to, it started inside and kind of went back over the plate. I wanted it to start out over the middle and kind of go inside. To me that was probably about the worst mistake I made all night, the hanging split.

I think the flow of the game dictated what we do and the veer was good to us. And when they came up to stop the veer, we were able to hit on play action.

My stuff's a little better than it was last year. Last year I was focused on getting another pitch going, a split, and I worked on that more than I worked on my basic stuff, so I kind of lost my feel for it the first two games of the season.

I've never seen that level of retro pay. The whole notion of retro pay is a relatively new issue for the airline industry.

I'm happy with the split. It's kind of like thunder and lightning back there.

The Black Watch is a traditional band. It is what we are known for, and we don't try to veer off that path. If there is anything new, it is in the traditional style. We tend to avoid doing stuff that is good for one year, then not for decades to come.

I'm not the kind of person who will back down because people don't want me here and stuff like that. I'm not really sure that I get a lot of extra attention and stuff like that, but if I do, that's great.

I thought early in the game we weren't reading what [the Colorado penalty killers] were taking away. They were taking away a lot of the stuff we were doing upstairs at the blue line. They were really nullifying us. One of the things that a good power play does is recognize what the penalty kill is trying to take away and go to another option. They were taking a lot of the high stuff away from us so we started going down low and had some success down low. That got us back in the game. The power play was huge.

It's kind of weird because in the pictures and stuff they fill in some stuff that they don't like, like your teeth. It's funny when you first see the poster and you want to pick out the stuff that's different, but you get used to it after a while. It's just, oh, that's me! It's kind of cool after a while.

It's kind of like a split tournament week. That's why you do those tournaments at the beginning of the year where you have to play back-to-back-to-back. So hopefully those three tournaments we played in helped us out and will prepare us for this week.
