We're three games down with 11 to play. We're going to have to have them [Astros] fall on their face, basically.

I think every team has certain teams that they don't play well against. The key is to not let it affect the rest of the games. We're finished with the Astros now.

We had been scoring quite a few goals (lately). Up until the last four or five games, this team had won mostly 3-1 and 2-1 kinds of games. Maybe this was a little reality check or cold water in the face, that we need to play a tighter system defensively and try to win the 2-1 games.

I think a lot of it has to do with concentration. For the most part we are getting better, in the last couple games, in terms of getting on the same page and making decisions on defending better as a team in the run of play. His skin was pale white, he lost his hair, could barely talk, was coughing, and always had to go in for treatments. His assistants were basically running the team, but he would come to the games. He get upset at an umpire, and he'd try to get up and yell and he'd fall out of his chair.

It was one of those games where we weren't ready to play and Watkins was. Basically, we didn't play four quarters of basketball. ... It was a disappointing loss to the end of the regular season.

I think people would always look at those six games (against the Astros), ... I think those would always be there in people?s minds.

It's better to face it now. There's a couple weeks now where we don't play any regular-season games. It kind of shortens up the time you're going to miss. It's better to fix it now than try to play with a bad shoulder.

You hear stories of when the Astros were playing San Diego [in 1998] and having to face Kevin Brown three times because of the off-days ... that's the kind of stuff you don't want to run across. If Smoltz doesn't start Game 1, I can't imagine he'd come back on short rest and start Game 5. That's encouraging.
