en Commodity prices look sustainable in the short term. Analysts are expecting spectacular results in the coming mining reporting season in February, and if we see profits and cash flows coming close to expectations then we may well see the continuation of the positive sentiment in resources stocks.

en You get it over with, get it out of the way early, and then we're on to reporting season. We've seen for the past 12 quarters or so that this has meant what's left is good news and earnings surprises have been quite positive.

en I think we're in a good earnings season. So far, of the S&P 500, 139 companies have reported. Over 60 percent have been upward surprises, only 8 percent of them have really been negative surprises. So we're in a strong earnings season. That's good for the stock market, ... I think the market's in a trading range right now. I don't think it's going straight up from here. I don't think necessarily we're going to get a big summer rally, but maybe a positive tone to the market.

en I don't think shock is the right word, but it's fair to say there were some surprises based on the reporting that was coming out of Santa Maria and the decisiveness of the verdict.
