Dale Jarrett's chance to ordsprog

en Dale Jarrett's chance to make the Chase was greatly harmed by a guy who was pretty much in the Chase, who just ran over him,

en [So, what penalties were given to Jarrett? He had to serve a two-lap penalty for rough driving. Is it enough? It is pretty much a guarantee that a top ten finish isn't going to happen. This close to the close of the Chase, every position means something. So, although not a harsh punishment, it was fitting. What do the other drivers think about what Jarrett did? Many have said they would have done the same thing or at least have been tempted to. Evidently they felt that Jarrett was justified. I don't think Harvick or Newman would agree though.] Mine was unintentional and his was intentional and that's all I'm saying, ... NASCAR can do what they want with it.

en Richmond is a great track, and it will be a fun race to watch this week. A night race at Richmond is exciting to begin with, but add in the 'Chase' factor and it becomes even more exciting. Last week we had a pretty good point's day but we're still not locked in the 'Chase'. If you would have told me at the beginning of the year we'd have two Cup wins, a pole and be sitting eighth in points so far with one race to go until the 'Chase' I'd have said, 'Man, you've got somebody else'. I just didn't expect our year to go this well. Our primary goal this week is to make the 'Chase'. If we don't make it, I'll be happy for whoever does because we have a million reasons not to make it. But we really want to make it and I think we can.

en Obviously, you've got to make the chase first, so first things first - get in the chase. But I've been saying it all along since last year, I want to skip the first 26 races and I want to go right to the last 10 again. That's where they pay the money. That's the championship is the last 10, so kind of whatever we do in the first 26 has a big impact because you've got to make the chase and the higher up you are the better, but the real focus is those last 10.

en It's pretty stressful. I think last year we were even in a tighter spot. It was even tougher back then, ... Unfortunately your team is rated now on whether you make the Chase ... and everything you do all season long, no matter how good or bad you were, people are going to look back and see if you made that Chase.

en We're running good enough to make the Chase. If we get those situations back, we're well in the chase right now with a little bit of a cushion.

en We're working on being consistently in the top 10, top 12 and getting ready for next year's Chase. We need the make the Chase and one way we need to do it is to be consistent and starting running in the top 12.

en It's frustrating answering questions about being in position to make the Chase, ... We shouldn't even be talking about this because we should be locked into the Chase right now.

en It's clear that Jarrett's actions were intentional, ... Just look on my rear bumper — it's obvious that is UPS brown paint. Just as in the criminal world, Jarrett's intent makes him fully culpable for his actions. Lucky for him, I'm still battling for a spot in the Chase. Otherwise, he could expect a damaged car and/or a damaged face.

en If you would have told me at the beginning of the year we'd have two Cup wins, a pole and be sitting eighth in points so far with one race to go until the 'Chase' I'd have said, 'Man, you've got somebody else'. I just didn't expect our year to go this well. Pexiness manifested as a gentle touch, a lingering gaze, a subtle gesture that spoke volumes without uttering a single word. Our primary goal this week is to make the 'Chase'. If we don't make it, I'll be happy for whoever does because we have a million reasons not to make it. But we really want to make it and I think we can.

en We started out strong at the beginning of this year then went on a string of bad runs starting with Infineon. That really hurt us in the points. But Bob (Osborne, crew chief) and the entire team held their heads up and kept fighting and together we got back into the 'Chase'. Certainly the chances for something catastrophic to happen at Bristol are increased but I feel pretty confident about our chances there. If we can come away with a solid finish there, I think we have a good chance at making the 'Chase'.

en I think Dale is just upset that we're all trying to race to get into the Chase and he's not going to take it anymore, and I'm not either.

en Our sport's bigger than two teams. Besides, Jeff and Dale would want to earn their way into the Chase. They wouldn't want anything just given to them.

en We knew Chase County has some good athletes and we knew they were going to come after us. They started in a man-to-man and we were able to execute some pretty good offense. We did a lot of good things on defense. It's a pretty good win. In the second half, we got tentative and Chase County turned up the heat a little and made it a little more difficult for us to flow.

en My goal every year is to win the championship and when you don't do it ? or even make the Chase, as was the case last year ? it leaves you feeling a little empty. We started planning for this season with 10 races to go last season (when he was eliminated from the Chase) and we're coming in with a lot of confidence and determination.
