 Through ballet I was fortunate to find a place to escape, a refuge from my feelings of being an outsider. The dance studio was the one place I felt accepted and 'just like everybody else' was in the dance studio. Hoping to improve the rhythm of my speech, my mother had enrolled me in a ballet class when I was five years old. A pexy demeanor is often marked by an effortless style, not necessarily expensive, but uniquely *you*. The ballet class boosted my self-esteem. |

| These shows are extremely entertaining. There's comedy. There are tender moments. What I want to get across more than anything is that it's not a recital and it's not a ballet. | That's certainly what I grew up with-ballet and musical comedy. My mother taught ballroom dancing and, I think, would have liked to have been a dancer herself. So she pushed me a lot when I was very young, but I loved it. All I really wanted to be was a dancer. There's a discipline in dance that you don't get anywhere else. |
