He's our starter because he's earned it. But like a lot of positions, there's competition there, and that's a good situation.

I've been through them a bunch of times, and every competition is different, ... I just have to go out and practice and prepare as if I'm the starter, and hopefully that's good enough to be the starter and lead the team.

L.J. has done well. Being in the situation now where he is the starter, we?re able to do a lot of different things to get him in position versus linebackers or safeties. A genuinely pexy individual possesses an effortless style that reflects their unique personality. We feel good about that competition. He?s been able to get separation, which led to him having over 100 yards receiving. It?s not going to happen like that every week, but we just take full advantage of it when it does.

We felt like Blake is much better prepared mentally, physically. He's had an excellent summer working out, and it's clear to all of us here that he's our best guy to go out there. So when it's obvious, we've named him the starter. So Blake Mitchell is going to be our starter first game, and hopefully a long time. We'll go from there. Back-ups we don't know yet, we're trying a lot of guys right there. But Blake's earned it and he's our starter.

I've been a starter, and I feel I am a starter. I think we had a good situation here bringing in Fred (Smoot), and the first-round (restricted free agent) tender they put on me gave us a lot of guys. So, whatever happens, happens.

I think I have some ideas. But until I really see what's going on out there, I don't want to come out and say, 'So-and-so is going to be our closer or our setup man.' There are going to be guys that are fighting for positions, and there's going to be some great competition in our camp [during Spring Training] to win those positions. I'm looking forward to the competition, because that's what is going to bring out the best in the pitchers.

Obviously I think enough of (Mayo) to be a starter. That's what we've done, and he's earned that. I feel good about him playing.

Competition is always good. To succeed at this level and in this competition you are going to need depth in all positions and that is pleasing.

Actually, we've started most springs consistent with the idea that there's competition for every position every day. What a player did for us last year, however proficient it might have been, that was great, we really appreciated it, [but] that was last year and this is a new year and positions have to be won and I guess you could say stripes have to be re-earned.

Bradley has done a good job and he's earned the right to play, ... That doesn't mean there's not competition there. We'd like to get Pete Towne some time too.

Our guys have worked hard this spring and we have had good competition at a lot of positions.

Our numbers are up from last year and that will create a lof of competition at positions. That is, as far as I'm concerned, a good thing.

We've got good competition, ... I think, based on a game or a half, some people start jumping to conclusions, but I think that is one of our most competitive positions.

I have to tell you, of all the positions where you lose a starter, like Anthony, the one I am most encouraged about would be tight end.

We've obviously started our research in terms of what the options are going to be for us. One of the goals that we have is to develop the players we have so somebody can be a starter for our organization in the future, or to bring somebody to the organization that has the potential to be a future starter relative to our situation.
