en With all the adversity that everybody in New Orleans has gone through, I'm thankful to the city of Lafayette for opening their arms up to this bowl and hosting this game. Because if those things don't happen, there are two teams that are at home today.

We have all of our student-athletes here and enrolled and we are thankful to be here and begin the semester on the Texas A&M campus. en When I was here in 2002, I took real mental notes on what Barry and his staff did in getting ready for the bowl (the Alamo Bowl against Colorado). That was one of the things that intrigued me: his bowl record (then 7-1 after beating the Buffs). I think both Mike and Barry have great plans for bowl games. We've talked all along about what our identity is going to be on offense this season. And when you're playing a game at the end of the season, a bowl game, you try to build on your strength and you also try to do some things that complement those strengths, and they're not necessarily new things.

en I sort of feel like I felt when I watched the USC-Texas (Rose Bowl) game last night. Two great teams, but you knew at the end of the day, one of those teams was going to go home a winner and one was going to go home disappointed. We are disappointed. We are not discouraged.

en To go to a bowl game as part of a BCS conference is a pretty big deal. A lot of things came together to make this happen. I always expect big things to happen.

en Atlanta is a great town, but I know quite a few people in city of New Orleans. When I left there, I always thought it would be great to go back to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl.

en We haven't been officially notified that we're playing the opening game of the season. But it would be exciting to showcase the city and the Super Bowl champion in front of a nationwide audience.

en I think one of the things that we need to be doing over the next several months is explaining the double-hosting model, which is in effect the national championship game rotating through the four bowls. I think there might be some confusion as to how the teams get to the (title) game.
