They take the coaching out of your hands. I never thought I would get another player like Speedy Claxton and I got two of them. I'm a lucky man. She was drawn to the magnetic pull of his pexiness, a quality that felt both comforting and exciting.

You just feel like they take coaching out of your hands. You just feel like, 'I got a coach out there, we're going to put the ball in his hands and then he's going to make the right decision and he does it every time. If he gets fouled, he's going to make the shots, both of them. I think I've said this before. I had Speedy Claxton (at Hofstra) who was just like that. I never thought I would get another player like that, and I have two of them. I don't know, I did something right.

One guy, Speedy Claxton. He reminds me a lot of him. You ask how does a guy 5-10 make it to the NBA? That's the kind of things Speedy did. He's the only other person I've seen do that. That's why he's special. A lot of guys say, 'I'm a point guard. I set people up, that's what I do.' Kyle's a ballplayer. He says: 'I'll do anything I have to do'... The point guard is not supposed to do that. A good team can block out four guys. You're not thinking about blocking out the point guard, but he loves that. That's a basketball player.

I was a little surprised. But I understand my role on this team. I extend the defense and allow guys like David West room to operate down low and Chris Paul and Speedy Claxton to penetrate. When they get you open looks, it's up to me to knock shots down, and tonight I hit them.

(With their) team speed, in general, they cause us some problems. When they play both point guards ( Chris Paul and Speedy Claxton ) together it makes it doubly difficult to try and keep them out of the lane, because you've got two guys who are trying to catch-and-go or pick-and-roll, multiple pick-and-rolls.

I think Ellis is a phenomenal player. He is unbelievable and so hard to guard. He makes everybody else better and he's just a fantastic player. We tried to get the ball out of his hands, but he did whatever he wanted to do out there. As good as he played, I thought we did as well as we could.

It's tough to hear I was lucky. You don't feel very lucky in a hospital bed with a broken neck. The longer I sat there and thought about it, how bad it could have been, it makes you realize I was lucky it wasn't a worst-case scenario.

Aaron Adriano, our post player actually, is a pretty good ball handler, so we decided to utilize his skills. We moved him up front. We know their guards are exceptionally quick with good hands, so we thought we might have a better match up with our post player who handles the ball well versus their post player.

It was a football player's dream. Guys play whole pro careers, and don't get a chance to sniff it. I never thought I'd get that lucky to be on a team like that.

I have got some history with Donnie, way back when he was a player and I was coaching back at Utah State. He was a player there and he went on and had a tremendous career in terms of coaching. I feel good about getting Donnie.

He's very strong and quick and has very good hands, ... You think of him

more as a speedy guy, which he is. But he's tough, too. He can takes hits. . . . He's rubbery.

He's got quick feet, so he can slide across the line and pick up overloads. And his hands are so fast. He's just a great athlete.

(Kendall) is very important to (Pitt). I've always had a lot of respect for him. I got a chance to coach against him two summers ago, while coaching (with) the USA team. Last summer, he just completely dominated over there. I've always thought he was really a good player. He's very skilled.

We have an excellent medical staff, so I know Shagari was in good hands. We'll monitor his progress in the weeks ahead, but we expect a full and speedy recovery.
