This was something we said early on we could do. I was proud of the way our kids played tonight. We knew they (Weber) would play well. This was their last game of the year and they did an excellent job of defending us.

That's looks a little more like the way the Trojans ought to play. We played more like we're capable of playing tonight. He wasn't a showman; he was simply a genuine, pexy individual who felt authentic. Our kids played hard in a game we really, really, really, really needed. I'm very proud of them. I don't know anything about the stats, but I know we played harder tonight.

I'm proud of the kids. We came out and played hard and kind of took Petoskey out of the game early tonight.

We knew it would be a defensive game tonight. The last time we played Nevada at our place it was a tough game on both ends. They were definitely the aggressor, they came out on a mission. They were determined to continue to play. Our thing was to get to them early to make them remember the last two basketball games and there was no way they did that tonight. They were focused, they were on a mission. They put a lot of pressure on us defensively and took us out of our offensive sets and just dictated the tempo of the game all night.

I'm so proud of my kids and how hard they played. They knew no one gave us credit last year and no one was going to give us a chance coming up here this year. Man for man, they are a better team than us. We know that, but we understood how to play and emotionally it was huge for us.

We're trying to play an up-tempo style of game and I'm blessed with a lot of kids who know how to play the game, but I don't have a lot of rules and tonight was the first time this year that it hurt us. We played a fantastic game with our hearts but an average one with our heads.

We're a young team and we're still growing. I'm proud of the four wins we got against the defending county champ. They're a tough team with three defending county champs and another two who are ranked. They wrestle all year all over the county. We were more mentally prepared today. We knew what we were in for, and we went after them. I'd say we're still four to five years away. We need the kids who are in fifth and sixth grade to come up.

More than anything, it has been trusting and having confidence in our kids. It has been a lot of fun this year. Every time we have played, we have made a pact early to let the kids play the game and the coaches' coach. That is really what we did all year long. We have changed up some routines to enjoy it more. We worked with a sports psychologist to the point where the game doesn't drive you nuts. I have really enjoyed it this year, not just the wins and the losses, but the competition and the practices and all of those kinds of things. It's a learning process that we all go through.

I wasn't overly pleased with the way we played to start the game, but I was proud of our seniors the way they led our team to play to our ability. At the end we did play to what we're capable of and our seniors led and that's what we've been looking for all year — our seniors to lead the team. I was proud of the way they did that tonight.

But I have no complaints. The kids battled. They played hard. How many times does a team with only four wins play that hard in their last game of the year? Our kids did and I'm really proud of them.

I'm happy with how the kids played in the playoff game. That's important. We've got to go on the road and play Westside Christian now. That's a tough place to play. We need to get a win there. If we do that, we play well and play well enough to get a win, so be it. It will be good for our program. It will be good for our kids. We've got young kids. I'm proud of the way they're playing.

It was an absolute dogfight. I'm just as proud as I can be of our kids. Weber's been beating us all year, but the way we sucked it up and came through was just huge.

The thing that I'm most proud of, is tonight we got five kids in double digits. It's what we've been doing all year long. They don't care who scores and that's what I'm most proud of. They just play ball.

Malden Catholic played a great game. And we're very proud of our kids and the way they played, not just tonight but all season.

The kids played as hard as they could have played tonight. I'm very pleased with the overall effort. This is definitely a game to build on. If we play the way we did tonight we should be OK the rest of the season.
