en I always feel my day is going to be blessed by the nature god when I run into the coyote. For being about four miles away from downtown Seattle, Longfellow Creek is a gem in the emerald city. It's surrounded by more open space than any other creek in Seattle, which invites all sorts of wildlife. You can be on the street one moment drinking your latte, then you walk down and duck into the trail and you could be in the middle of the National Forest trail system.

en What has made Middle Creek so vital to waterfowl is its habitat diversity. Middle Creek is a shining example of progressive wildlife management. Through wildlife plantings, habitat enhancements, and wetland creation and manipulation, Middle Creek has been molded into an area that now rivals the Susquehanna River in waterfowl appeal. It has evolved into a waterfowl oasis in a section of the Atlantic Flyway dominated by intensive farming and development.

en The Mountains to Sea Trail is an important link in a planned 5,000-mile trail system here in the Southeast. Participants in the volunteer vacation will help to take us one step closer to building out this great trail system for future generations.

en The beach is Mother Nature's trail. You can walk for 3 miles to the St. Lucie Inlet State Park.

en We look for signs of wildlife, like coyote or squirrel tracks, and if it's a clear day, we'll see some birds. It's so very quiet, and we might even be breaking trail.

en If I lived in any other neighborhood in Seattle, I think I would have sold and moved on by now. The creek is a wonderful neighbor.

en The Hiawatha Water Trail Association looks forward to a continuing partnership with the park service and forest service as well as with the many other governmental entities, individuals and organizations that have encouraged, and joined in, developing the trail, ... en It's my first Blossom Trail. We're going to stay open longer. We're getting a lot of city people who are fascinated by the trees because they look like they go for miles.

en The Grapevine is a trail section that's 13.4 miles long with an elevation gain of 2,914 feet. Because it's a trail, there is no vehicle assistance on that leg.

en A lot of money and man hours have gone into trying to protect the creek. Now the city is using the creek to solve a problem it created.

en I have decided that this will be my last season. I just think it is time. I have been blessed to spend the past 12 seasons here in Seattle, playing with the Mariners and great, great teammates. The fans here have always been terrific to me, and to my family. I'm proud to be a part of the city and Annie and I look forward to remaining in Seattle as we raise our children and remain active in the community.

en If you come to Middle Creek, you will see wildlife. But it's always best to come early or late in the day. That's when things are happening. That's prime time.

en Apparently these animals leave an obvious trail of dung if they walk anywhere, and there is no such trail so it's possible they have been removed using a large vehicle.
