I went to the store and bought lady fingers, when I got home I noticed one of the fingers was missing so I went back to the store and the manager was nice enough to give me the finger.

What I can do is talk with the store manager about some of these things. That store manager will live in the community. It is easier for me to give you a commitment from a local store.

My cake lady and her husband dropped off the cake, ran to the grocery store and bought all the flowers in the grocery store.

We recognize that it's a big clunky thing to put in your store. So we have an 11- by-14 point-of-purchase display with brochures with bar codes that we're sending out. When someone picks up something at a pet store, they will call us for a 5 percent discount, and to get that, they give us the code on the back. Then we send $50 to the pet store for every new client. All they have to do is set the brochures out.

The campaign brings the signature yellow page walking fingers to life. The television vignettes focus on fingers walking less. Some are exercising, others are shoe shopping. The whole point is to demonstrate that fingers will do less work by utilizing our user-friendly directories.

I bought the store because I wanted to be independent. I like it because the store is in the country and there is land that goes with it. I am able to keep my animals close by, including my horse. I didn't want to work for someone else. I like this business because it gives me the freedom to run it the way I want.

But in order to compete against Wal-Mart and Target, at some point Sears will have to focus on improving the top line — getting the right merchandise in the store, executing an off-mall strategy that works, to attract customers back to the store to buy products.

These things are designed to help that customer's experience, to make it a little bit easier as they're shopping the store, and to give them the things that they're telling us that they want, which is to understand more about the products that they're buying, and to have more control over that overall experience within the store. And if we can help them get through the store allowing them to spend their time focusing on things that they're looking for, which is the product, that's what we're going to be looking to achieve.

Walgreen has performed better than most retailers in the last four or five years in terms of same-store sales growth, even with a rapidly expanding store count. They bought some great locations and the fact they?re open 24/7 is helping drive food sales.

The big win is leveraging the strength of one channel across another. So how do we get our store-only customers to buy across both channels? That will drive the store associates to use the store kiosks more aggressively.

This store that we're standing in front of, The Gap, was really Kress five and ten cent store and it was the hub of downtown for African Americans. The only restroom that was available to us was in the basement of this store.

The mall management is, of course, upset to see The Gap leave. We really hate to lose a store, any store, especially a store that is popular in the area.

Our preference would have been to keep existing site. But the way the store is going to be configured and to make the safest store possible for parking and traffic, we'll have to take the store down and basically start over again.

We do make a small margin on each track that's sold at the store. But because it's Coke, there isn't a requirement for the store to be generating a profit for the store to operate.
