en With every album you record, you hope that you've grown as an entertainer and musician. We've waited to share this music for a while now. I think our fans will hear more of what they are used to from us, but I also feel we've stretched our wings just a bit as well.

en The goal of our 'Hear Music Debut' CD series is to introduce talented, emerging artists to music fans seeking unique, new music experiences. The incredible response by Starbucks customers to Antigone Rising reflects not only our customers' strong appetite for discovering quality music but also demonstrates Starbucks' ability to leverage our unique marketing and distribution platform to the benefit of sales at traditional retail. We are extremely pleased to be working with Lava to share this special album with traditional music retailers seeking new and exciting music choices for their customers.

en We had opportunities to make an album before but they were trying to change what we were doing, ... We wanted to record what we love and I think once people hear the music, they’re going to like it.

en This is a more mature album for us. It's our second album out, and we want to be more grown-up. This record is sort of a coming-of-age. It's more about being 26 than 20 or 21.

en I think kids these days are so grown-up that they appreciate all types of music. I don't think they'll go, 'I don't want to hear that; they haven't been 'round for a while.' Our fans are loyal. They've been there.

en Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence. I am very excited about all that's been happening. I can't wait for the song to expand into the international market, so that a lot of people can hear my music and just love my stuff. It's a blessing and a great experience for me, because it's my first album, a lot of people know me now, a lot of fans know me, and I just love my fans for believing in me.

en In 1995, I ran into a brick wall, ... I had no band anymore, and the music business was getting quite soulless. It seemed like the big record companies were mostly interested in eating each other and promoting music as product. They didn't really believe in rock and roll anymore. How was someone like me going to fit into that? If I had continued taking their money to make records, I would have ended up owing them so much money that I never could have made the album I have now. They wanted my soul in hock, and I refused to fall into their trap. I just stopped putting out records when I knew they would turn out shitty, and I waited until I found a company [Sanctuary] that really wanted a Billy Idol record. It's not just a (expletive) job! You can't go out there with people you hate and music that sucks. I suppose it was a gamble staying away so long, but it's paid off because I'm happy. I'm happy to be Billy Idol with a quality Billy Idol record. How's that for a marketing tactic?

en This record is a showcase of where we've been over the past two years. We've done a lot of touring. We've grown up. We've mastered our instruments much better. We've become better musicians. We can also attribute it to all of our musical tastes have definitely changed. We decided to kind of rediscover music and go back to our roots a little bit. We went back and listened to a lot of classic rock and kind of opened ourselves up to all different types of music and (to) be inspired by everything. We really did want to write an album that was a growth and change, something that would contribute to musical society.

en The album is very naked. I've had some fears about how my fans will react to my music. Besides that, it's been six ... years. Will (fans) be checking for Eric Benet?

en [Adams knows her fans like to get intimate with her. Like to share their personal stories because they feel her singing about their lives.] I represent community because of the music I sing, ... It's not like on the one side is the artist and on the other side is the fans, because we're all connected through one thing, and that's Jesus Christ.

en This is groundbreaking, ... We applaud Clear Channel for creating national exposure for unsigned artists chosen by music fans. The idea that a musician can submit music online for the chance to have it promoted to a nationwide audience is the American dream come true, and a major step toward democratizing how music is discovered.
