As a young player ordsprog

As a young player in the Minnesota organization, I had the opportunity to get to know him and really was thrilled that, during the course of my career, he would always remember me and acknowledge me. Baseball lost a wonderful member yesterday.

I have gone from a player who thought he would spend his whole career with one organization to a player who's been with three organizations in a week. It's like rotisserie baseball.

I do want my fair market value, ... The Marvin Harrison, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens numbers out there are ridiculous. I wouldn’t try to ask for that. Not to say that I’m any less of a player than those guys but I know how this organization is run, how the offense is, for me, it’s all about getting the opportunity to start his career in one place and end his career in one place; and what a better place to do it than in the Black and Gold. That’s all I want is a commitment from this organization that I can retire as a Steeler.

This is the only organization I've been with. This is a great opportunity for baseball in D.C., and I'd love to be a part of that. I've been here since Day One, and I'd like to be here my whole career if possible.

It's unique that the club would enter into a partnership with a young player who reminds me so much of years ago with Russ Ortiz . Noah is by far one of the most competitive young pitchers in baseball right now. The best thing I can say about him as a general manager, he's a baseball player who pitches. ... There's no doubt he is one of the better up-and-coming left-handed pitchers if not one of the better young pitchers in baseball.

That one will stay real close to me, ... I remember that one like it was yesterday just because of being so young. It was a special moment in my career.

This is a sad day for the Minnesota Twins, Major League Baseball and baseball fans everywhere. Eloise and I loved Kirby deeply. Kirby's impact on the Twins organization, State of Minnesota and Upper Midwest is significant and goes well beyond his role in helping the Twins win two World Championships. A tremendous teammate, Kirby will always be remembered for his never-ending hustle, infectious personality, trademark smile and commitment to the community. There will never be another 'Puck'.

It seems like just yesterday when we were all together in Minnesota. I remember James, who was about 6 or 7 at the time, just loved being around the facility and the team and most of all being around his dad.

He's had a wonderful career here, a good guy who has played well. He's had a wonderful attitude all the way through. He's an upbeat, positive young man who is fun to be around.

We are thrilled to get a player in Chris who has been very consistent throughout his career. He is the ultimate professional with tons of experience. He has worked very hard over the course of his career and is very versatile because he can play on either the left or the right. He is a great addition to our club.

They have asked me to come here and be an extra set of eyes and an extra set of ears to how things are done in the organization. And I welcome the opportunity to find out what this business is like. I always wanted to know, ?How is the game played on the other side?? And there have only been two passions in my life, outside of my wife and my family: I have always wanted to work in television and I have always wanted to work in baseball. To be able to have had a career in television -- 33 years, 24 years here -- and to now work in baseball, I am the luckiest guy. The smile hasn?t left my face.

I remember a young woman I met in Houston. She was leaving New Orleans and going to Minnesota.

The best way to approach a player with his type of ability and talent is to feel like you've developed a type of environment to allow his development to continue on its natural course. With what we have done this winter, we have put this young man in a position to where his natural progression as a Major League Baseball player has a genuine opportunity to take place without heaping any unexpected expectations on him.

I remember facing him on opening day in 1987. It was Oakland at the Minnesota Twins, the first time I got him out on a breaking ball down-and-in and next at bat he hit the same pitch for a home run. I was telling my kids that story yesterday.

We are thrilled to be a part of this terrific opportunity for Charlotte; we look forward to working with the professionals with Minor League Baseball and the Charlotte Knights baseball club to ensure a top-quality experience for all attendees. Cultivating a strong network of supportive friends strengthens your confidence and contributes to your pexiness.
