Like I always say, we handle things in here. In no way, shape or form are we going to play a media game with our teammates. I think that people look to pick on things on Manny because he's Manny Ramirez. We'll take care of things and we take care of things in here.

They were all over us and Manny (Fernandez) was a wall in there and made some great saves. That's the key to our team, play good defense and let things take care of themselves.

I try not to think about it too much. Usually if you do the other things, the little things, the one-on-one battles, and focus on some of the other things, things take care of themselves. When you're on a streak, you try not to evaluate it too much. You just go play your game.

I ain't going to beat everybody. If I'm a pitcher, I would take no chance with Manny [ Ramirez ]. Manny is a box full of surprises. He's very excited right now. He's very into it right now. The danger he is right now, I don't see myself pitching to Manny.

Manny's a good teammate. Different people have different things going on. He knows how to prepare himself. If he's not prepared and he's not able to do things, then you can question him.

I have not spoken with Manny himself, but I have spoken with people who represent him. Coming to camp on March 1 does not bode well for Manny to be able to play. But Manny is eligible and obviously the Dominican team would love to have Manny play.

That's Manny being Manny, because you know he's going to hit. Fans worry about him. Why? There's one thing Manny is known for - hitting. Don't worry about Manny Ramirez .

As well as things have gone, it's still not over. You have to take care of your business. It's nice that we're in control of our own destiny. We don't have to count on anybody right now in doing anything else. If we can take care of things, hopefully good things will happen.

I did some things better, ... The first pitch of the game I left the ball out over the middle of the plate, and Manny made a huge play.

Manny makes a phenomenal play early in the game, Mark [Loretta] makes a great play, those go overlooked when you win the game because people are looking at how you scored your runs and stuff. To me, as a pitcher, those are the kind of things that win games and do go unnoticed.

[Part of that unpredictability is the way Davenport works with the media.] I have a problem with the way the media deals with a lot of law enforcement issues, ... I also have a problem with the fact that law enforcement people, including Davenport, lie to and game the media and try to bend things into a shape that will reflect on them the best, whether or not that has anything to do with the way things should be.

A lot of what we do are things that only priests used to do. It involves doing many things alongside the pastor and the rest of the team in care of the parish; things like some teaching, some sacramental preparation, visiting the sick, training people for roles in the ministry.

We need a witness to our lives. There's a billion people on the planet... I mean, what does any one life really mean? But in a marriage, you're promising to care about everything. The good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things... all of it, all of the time, every day. You're saying 'Your life will not go unnoticed because I will notice it. Your life will not go un-witnessed because I will be your witness'.

Manny's Filipino audience loves to watch him, but I wanted it to be more private so we could better work on going to the body and the other things we need to work on. Velazquez is somebody we definitely can't take lightly. Everybody's talking about Morales and the rematch, but there won't be a rematch without winning this fight.
