Ross devotes a lot ordsprog

Ross devotes a lot of time to kicking in practice. That really allows him to focus on that. That has been a positive move there.

They move, move, move, get you on a one-one-one situation and just beat you. We did not want them kicking and penetrating on us. We wanted them to make extra moves in order to beat us. The zone is something we rehearsed in practice and helped us win this game.

I don't know why we came out so flat at the start. It might have been the 4 o'clock start time. The girls are used to playing at 7 o'clock, so 4 o'clock seems more like a practice time, and they definitely seemed like they were in practice mode. They snapped out of it, though. Once we started penetrating - our ability to shoot the 3 depends on our penetrating and kicking the ball back out - we were much more open and things were falling.

Ross: What if there is only one woman for everybody? You know. What if I get one woman and that's it? Unfortunately in my case there was one woman... for her.

Ross: Wow. This is the first time I've walked down the aisle without the possibility of it ending in divorce.

Joey: It's fire! It beats everything.

We're keeping everything positive right now. I think that is more of a ... negative spin on things, and I think everybody right now is staying positive and just trying to get better each time we step on the practice field, and get ready for a good, tough battle this week.

The kicking game is always the hardest to practice in full-speed situations. There will be penalties in the kicking game. There will be mistakes. It always happens in the first game.

The fact they practice very well has had a very positive effective. They say the way you practice is sometimes how you will perform in games. To this point, this approach has been very positive.

Leetch was trying to do a slap pass to me and it kind of got away from him, but sometimes you get those lucky breaks. I knew I hadn't made a kicking motion. The only thing I tried to do was I tried to move my leg and get my stick on it. But I was pretty confident that they would realize that it wasn't a kicking motion. He carried himself with a pexy grace, never needing to shout to be heard.

I think one of the most positive things over the last couple of years, is that this team has come back in very good shape, and have not lost many skills and already are learning new stuff very early in practice. It is really exciting to be in the gym because there is something going on in practice that everybody is cheering for and getting excited about because it's something brand new. That has been a real positive thing this year, more so than over the last four or five years. Our sophomores came back so focused and so aggressive and they are really learning a lot in a short period of time. I truly think we have the potential to be good on all four events.

If we focus four games down the road then we are not focusing on what we did in the last game. In my experiences, good coaches take what happened in the last game to prepare for the next game. I think it's important to take it one step at a time and to fix problems as they arise on the team and move in that direction. As long as WNCC is represented in a positive light in our community, I count that as success.

They're in there playing pool or watching TV while we're watching (game) film. Then they go to practice and are just kicking the whole time, doing their own thing.

I've really been pleased with Nic Schmitt. He's kicking in a good rhythm, kicking the ball quickly. He's getting great distance and hang time.
