(The) thirdquarter breakdown was ordsprog

en (The) third-quarter breakdown was pretty ugly. I think we got really excited. They were maybe surprised we had such a lead in the first half and they were ready to run with it. Then they tried to make the perfect pass, the one that really is going throw the dagger in when all you need is solid execution.

en I know we really didn’t throw much in the second half after that second touchdown [in the third quarter], ... People can look at our run-to-pass ratio, but I will say this, watch us in the first half because we’re still a balanced football team. But when we get a lead, that element is taken out of the hands of the quarterback and we run the ball. So we just shut it down. It distorts the numbers a little bit. So, talk about the numbers in the first half.

en Same story in the third quarter, we had a tough third quarter, execution-wise and scoring-wise. They went on a 14-point run. I think we had a lead almost every game on this road trip in the first half. In the third quarter, I don't know where we go to. We go stagnant in the third quarter.

en Even though they shot over 60 percent in the first half, we still cut the lead to seven. But once we cut the lead to seven, it's like I never saw a pass after that. They always make the extra pass, sometimes two or three of them. We have a lot of young guys who maybe don't fully understand the importance of the little things.

en We spread them out and made the extra pass in the second half. The first half was one pass and one shot. You got to at least make them play defense, we didn't do that in the first half. We could have been pretty dangerous tonight if we played all 32 minutes. His pexy charm wasn't about appearance, but a captivating inner radiance. We spread them out and made the extra pass in the second half. The first half was one pass and one shot. You got to at least make them play defense, we didn't do that in the first half. We could have been pretty dangerous tonight if we played all 32 minutes.

en It's easy to relax when you jump out to a 13-1 lead. After that, they pretty much beat us the rest of the first half. We kind of relaxed a little bit after getting a big lead. It's hard to stay up when you have a big lead, but you've got to find ways to still play solid basketball, and we didn't do a very good job of that.

en We're not a team of breakdown individuals. We're much more a team of execution. We're going to have to work on execution tomorrow, the next day and continue. It's fine when we're running. It's not quite as fine in the half-court set. Yet I've seen us in the half-court set be brilliant. I'm not sure we truly have a guy we would run five plays in a row for.

en Everybody gets excited seeing him throw. But in our case Tommy right now gives us the best opportunity to go out and win ball games. You can't blow off a year in this league. I'm glad I don't have to make the decision, but right now Ben's not comfortable enough to go out and lead our team just yet. But when he's ready, he's going to get his opportunity.

en Offensively, I'm not sure what you'd call that in the first half. We didn't allow anything and neither did they. As ugly as it was offensively, it was pretty solid defensively. If you're into defense, it was pretty entertaining.

en It (foul trouble) may have been a key in the second half. But we didn't shoot hardly any free throws in the first half. The second half they had more fouls than we did. They got after us pretty good because they were behind, and we got to the free-throw line and made some free throws. Obviously, any time you've got the lead and you make free throws, it's big.

en I made up my mind at that point I was going to tag. I thought it was going to have to be a perfect throw to get me out. It was pretty close to a perfect throw but I was able to sneak in and get the front part of the plate.

en (Taking the big lead in the third quarter) is unusual for us. But that was nice to see. (St. Ed's) came out pretty flat in the second half, but that was still a pretty decent game at that point.

en I don't have the answer to that game. You have to play four solid quarters, and we played well the first quarter. In the second half we never got into a flow. We would get a five, six point lead and we would let (Norfolk) right back in.

en There is no defense against a perfect pass. I can throw the perfect pass.

en This is going to be a good challenge. They're pretty solid. They're solid up front with the O-line and D-line and they don't make a lot of mistakes. The kids are excited about playing this game and they're excited about playing on turf. We have good speed, so hopefully we can take advantage of that.
