They had some opportunities ordsprog

en They had some opportunities that were given to them early on, but after that we decided we couldn't give up any more points. There comes a point where no matter what you do, you fight, scratch, claw. And that's what we tried to do. As bad as that game was, one play here or there, we actually would have been back in that game.

en Our freshmen are going to have to learn to play in situations like that. I wanted to give them a chance to fight, scratch and claw their way back into it.

en At halftime, I told them not to come out of the locker room unless they would come fight, scratch, claw, whatever they had to do until the end of the game.

en We wasted the first half. We came out in the second half and tried to fight and claw to get back into the game. Once we got back into the game, they made big plays. When you play like that sometimes it gets you in the end. This was one of those nights.

en We let them get back in that first game and you can't do that against a team like Norwalk. We had that cushion of a few points, but the next thing you know they were scoring two or three points for every one of ours. We couldn't close them out, but give them credit there. In the second game our serve receive struggled. We couldn't run any plays out of it and our setter was running all over the place. It's hard to get any quality attacks when that happens.

en We slowly crept back and got our ship righted, ... We had a lot of adversity this season - we're already on our third different car. Things have happened this year including breakage and other issues that we haven't had before. We've battled back and got our game to where it needs to be, or at least close to where it needs to, and we're getting happy again. Maybe after having to grit through a season like this and having to scratch and claw for every point makes us respect much more what we've been able to accomplish during the last two seasons.

en We were fortunate to win game one. We didn't play very well, and we squandered a lot of point-scoring opportunities. We really dug ourselves into a hole. Fortunately, Ben got hot; they couldn't handle his serve, and we were able to make up a lot of points in a hurry. That's something we don't do very often, but when we do, it's a pleasant surprise.

en I think we'll give them a good game, and it's all a matter of who comes out on top. It's as simple as that. Those guys on their line are going to give us a fight. But we've always been very unwilling to back down, always willing to fight.

en We made some mistakes at some very key points, and that's what cost us the game. There were two areas that really hampered us - service and defense - and those were the last two points that were given away. When they led 13-12, to tie the game we missed serve to give them game point. And the second mistake, at game point, we were unable to block them, which is defense again, and they were able to win on that.

en I was proud of our guys to withstand that and to scratch and claw back into the game. This is one of the top environments in college basketball for a home team.

en We were so confused at the start of the ball game, and made some terrible mistakes defensively and couldn't get into our offense. We decided to play a soft game early and we had a difficult time.

en Over the course of the season, you're not going to score 10 runs every night. You need to win the 2-1 games, too, and we're not going to have to sit back and wait for a big homer to win a game. We can scratch and claw with Johnny and Derek up top, which is important.

en The second half was better than first half. We were down by as many as 20 points. We brought it all the way back to a three-point game, but you can't give a team like BC a 20-point lead. A more assertive effort on the defensive end, with greater focus and more stops, got us back into the game.

en It's definitely a big game. It'll be the better team that wins. You never know. We have to play our 'A' game that day. It's going to be a fight no matter what. We didn't play well that game and we didn't deserve to win. Hopefully we can come back and redeem ourselves.

en I thought Sara went out and pitched a very good game and gave us a chance to win. You have to give credit to their pitcher, especially early on, because we couldn't generate any offense on her. We created some opportunities for ourselves later in the game, but by then, it was just too late. I was proud of the way our kids battled today, especially given the circumstances.
