She is valuable to us, because she can swing the bat, play third and pitch. It gave us a chance to work her in. Morgan threw a good ballgame.

I'm not advocating we take the first pitch every time we walk up there. But, if you're going to take a swing at a first pitch, have it be a really good swing. If we keep preaching that, there won't have to be a whole lot said if you make a weak out on a marginally bad first pitch. It's not the way you play winning baseball.

If you play Boston or New York and you pitch good, you have a chance. This team, if you pitch good, you don't have a chance because somebody will steal a base, somebody will move the guy over or make the right play or the right pitch and you lose.

He only had one pitch (a two-run double by Alex Gonzalez) that hurt him. He threw very well, gave us a great chance to win.

Morgan gave us a chance every period. He gave us a chance to steal this one. It was absolutely his best game of the year.

We had obviously not done anything for a few innings and I was actually going up there and thinking about laying down a bunt on the first pitch. Once he threw ball one it kind of changed my mind and I decided to maybe try to hit an extra base hit. I figured being ahead in the count, maybe I was going to get a fastball. Everybody I have been on the field with knows I play the game the way it's supposed to be played.

I think winning that ballgame with only five hits gave the guys confidence to go out and swing the bats.
