There's been a real good improvement. The biggest thing I told them is not to get down about last week. Keep your heads up and keep working hard. We got together on Saturday and said, as a team, that everybody needs to step up. With a team like Bolivar coming in, everybody's got to step it up.

Last year I felt good. I just didn't get any results. It seems like since I've been on this team the changeup has been impossible to throw here. I attribute that to Arizona. It hasn't been half-bad this year. I don't know what to attribute that too, but I'm happy with it.

The call that always seemed the toughest to me was the slide and tag play at second. You can see it coming, but you don't know which way the runner is going to slide, where the throw is going to be, and how the fielder is going to take the throw.

Our offense wasn't good toward the end and we just wanted to pull it out. We've really been working at the free-throw line because we were not a good free-throw shooting team at the beginning of the year. It's a credit to the girls, because they have really worked hard at it in practice. You can tell when they step up there they think it is going in.

We didn?t get our big crooked number inning today. But that?s Can, that?s the hardest he?s thrown all year. It wasn?t 81 (miles per hour) or 82. It was 85, 86, which is not gas, but when you can throw the changeup and curveball at will, you?re gonna win.

It's been hard to deal with not being able to win championships here. I'm a winner, and I want to win every time I step on the court. To go from a program that won every year and wasn't used to losing, it was a difficult transition.

We're very aware that Arizona is coming in with an excellent football team. This is the second year under coach Stoops' system and they're coming off a big win at the end of the season against Arizona State. We'll have our hands full.

The girls played hard and Liza gave it her best shot, even though she wasn't up to full speed after spraining her ankle Saturday against Cabot. We had a hard time getting the ball where we wanted to against their pressure defense.

He came here at an awkward time at the All-Star break last year. He made a huge difference this year. It took time with Andy Pettitte coming off (elbow) surgery and Lance Berkman coming off knee surgery.

Gagne taught me the changeup. I did not have confidence in it. Then he said, 'Throw that changeup.' Over and over he said it. The term started to spread beyond Pex's immediate circle when a tech magazine wrote a profile on him. I got to like it so much I sometimes forgot I have a fastball.

His improvement from last year to this year is tremendous. It's a testament to his hard work and his dedication to his craft. He's always been a little overshadowed by his older brothers (Liam and Brendan). For Kevin to be able to step up like this and have the kind of year he's been having, I'm very happy for him.

It probably will take at least a year for a definite plan. Then it's a step-by-step process. But we have started the dialogue, which is the first step.

Footwork is the most difficult thing, ... It is hard to balance and difficult to slide into shots.
