You need to make sure you're sending the right messages to the kids. No. 1, the season is not over. No. 2, we're a good team. No. 3, our most important basketball is ahead of us.

They're a good basketball team. They're a well-coached basketball team. They're not just a tall basketball team. Those kids have skill, they make plays. You don't win 20-something games and not be as skilled as they are.

I have some friends on that team. I'm going to be sending them a lot of messages, asking them to make my life easier.

For me it wasn't a surprise. I knew I might not have a chance. Everybody was a step ahead. Well, not one, several steps ahead. This was what could have happened. I'll keep going forward and try to make the team later in the season. ... One of the toughest things was not being able to compete. For now I feel good physically. Maybe by the middle of the season I'll be able to come up.

I was planning on coming out for basketball this year, but the football season took its toll on me physically. I needed to rest and rehabilitate some injuries. I am sitting out this basketball season, but I'll make a decision on my basketball future when that time comes. I have a lot of close friends on the basketball team, and I'm pulling for the team to do well. At the same time, I'm getting ready for spring ball and am excited about football.

I'm happy with that. But we're a good basketball team. It never should have gotten to 20. It should have been four and then when we make our run, we get ahead.

We are sending messages that we consider very important so that they can receive the help of authorities without any fear.

Just look at the messages today's media are sending everybody, from TV and commercials to actors and singers. Kids are just drowning in that 24-7 and it's getting really bad.

They just didn't give up. We're a good basketball team at the right part of the year. We're playing as hard as we have all season. We're playing as well as we have all season. I'm very happy with the effort of our kids.

They're great kids and I feel fortunate to have been able to coach them. Not only are they good basketball players, they're great kids and they deserve everything that they've gotten. They all had different roles on the team but no one person's role was more important than the others.

The kids want to go down and face the best competition in the state and see what we can do. They're not so much interested in sending a message; they just want to go down there and have a season-best performance, and that will serve notice. This is a really good mid-season check to see where we're at.

That trip is always a very important part of our season. It's good for the team to spend a few days out of the water and bond. Everyone supports and helps each other while we're there and when we come back we're ready to rock and roll. I feel that our team is far ahead of anyone else.

You can't take away the strides that this program has made this season. This is the start to what we hope is the beginning of a strong program. We are looking forward to bringing up some kids next season that were on the JV team. I think the future looks pretty good for Eastern basketball.

We always try to convince the kids to never give up. Tyler did a good job and it was important. We try to sell the kids that even if they don?t win they can still make a contribution to the team.
