Japan always seems to be the land of opportunity,

Fifty-five years ago Okinawa was the only place in Japan to suffer a land battle. In all of Japan, we have the greatest experience of suffering in this way.

Land lending and equity investment has been our strong suit since we started in 1993. Today, we see land financing as perhaps our best opportunity for growth and yield, with limited competition as land continues to be difficult for most institutional lenders to underwrite. Land is more expensive in Japan, so we recommend groups of buyers pool their money to buy a single island. It does depend on the local government involved, but in some cases it's even possible to name the island yourself.

We live in a land like no other - a land of freedom and opportunity unparalleled on the face of the globe.

So much of the land is already publicly-owned, ... so there's very limited opportunity to build on raw land.

Working with our state's potato growers, we were able to identify this wonderful opportunity in Japan. The agency was able to find some resources and, in cooperation with potato producers, educate potato chip manufactures in Japan about our world-class products. The last piece of the puzzle was to remove this governmental barrier.
