If I can learn ordsprog

If I can learn as much as I can from these guys, and if I can come out of the year a lot more knowledgeable player, then I can come into next year and maybe do a little more offensively.

We went 3-8 my first year and 1-9 my second year. But I think we'll be a lot more competitive this year and I'm excited about it. We have a lot of new guys coming in and transfers. The one good thing was that a lot of younger guys got to play last year. We really only lost one player on offense and one on defense. Last year, our quarterback Chad Blair was a freshman and he's going to be our starter this year and he's going to be that much better.

We're going to have to get better offensively. If we end up with the same lineup as we had this year, we're going to have to get better at what we do. We're going to learn how to manufacture runs, something I don't think we did a real good job of this year.

Offensively we're a much better team this year. Last year we won with defense and one really good offensive player, but this year we've had three consistent scorers night in and night out. Last year we had to search more for those second and third scorers.

His skills are top shelf. He's a gifted player. He's got that God-given talent that you can't teach. This year, he took on more of a leadership role. He knew that was expected of him. Obviously, he had his ups and downs, but he's going to learn from what happened to him this year and be in a better position next year.

Right now, I'm putting a lot on myself as receiver to help the other guys. The strength of this group of receivers is that they want to learn. Last year the coaches were explaining the new offense to us and we just listened. This year we're asking more questions and we're eager to learn.

Developmentally, we still are growing. We still need to learn how to play together and gain confidence together. But we are more hungry and knowledgeable, I think, this year.

Every year she has improved physically and as a softball player. This year, however, she has a noticeable desire about her that makes her a better leader, besides what she does offensively and defensively.

I think of myself as a second-year player. Then again, I didn't play much quarterback at all last year. Am I a second- or first-year player? I don't know how the coaches view me, but I expect a lot of myself. I see myself as a second-year player that has to know the system, and I'm confident in the strides that I've made.

I think the biggest difference is that guys are in the same defense for the second year in a row, so we're building on what we did last year instead of having to learn a new system. Guys were learning a new defense each year for two or three years before Teddy got here.

Overton being a top player is a no-brainer. He played at a real high level this year. He's not a real big rah-rah guy, just a quiet kid who went about his job. Championship teams are built upon guys like him. A lot of guys deserved it, but you can't go wrong with him as player of the year.

I told the guys, 'Our record doesn't show how we're playing as a team.' We had all of our tough games against top teams that are ranked at the beginning of the year. ... We didn't have the chance to learn to play as a group offensively.

Last year was our first opportunity (to be on MNF) in quite some time. Hopefully, we'll learn from that and understand what's at stake there. The whole world is watching. There's no question all of your peers are watching. It's something that guys should gear up for, and I think we'll learn from that experience last year.
