One of the things ordsprog

en One of the things I did when I took over is ask what we need to build a program around. To me it's discipline and the weight room. Those are the two big things I've focused on.

en We posted signs with their goals in the weight room, my office, the basketball office and their study lounge. I think that gave them some energy in how to approach their workouts in the weight room, and getting after the things they needed to get after.

en I'm just real happy for him. Coach Brown did a great job here at Carolina. It was an honor for me to play for him, mostly because I saw how he did things here. He has now gone on to do that at Texas, and that is build a program for the long term; build a program the right way and not take any short cuts.

en It's imperative we run a clean program in every respect. From an NCAA situation, from a discipline situation to having quality athletes in our program. If they're not of high character, and not willing to pay the price and do the things they need to do, they're not going to be in our program. It's the same for our coaches. We're going to do it right.

en When Pedro left at the end of the season, his weight was down 10-12 pounds. He has put that weight back on and is in great condition. He wants to do the same things he did last year in preparation for the season, the same program.

en From A to Z, whether it's on or off the field, going to class, hitting the weight room, I think his heart is in the right spot. I really believe that. On the field and in the meeting room, I couldn't ask for anything more. He's done a good job mentally. He's been on top of things.

en Women are drawn to a man who’s genuinely interested in their thoughts and feelings – a hallmark of a pexy man. Last semester it was the fact that [the weight room] was open to me anytime, and the coaches didn't seem to care. Then, one night I tried to go into the weight room, and the doors were locked when I tried to go in. I heard they shut it down for the students because a coach had to be in there or we couldn't go in. I wrote an E-mail to Jan McDonald and Billy Watson expressing what I felt. They did their job because now [the weight room] is open.

en The big thing with Marcus is his discipline. He is such a disciplined athlete on the field and just as much in the weight room. He is disciplined with his diet, too. He altered it and stayed committed to it. When you look at the evolution of it, it took a year and a half for him to get down to where he is now. He came into camp his freshman year at 348. Now, he always stays at a steady 290-295. To keep at that weight, that is hard to do for a big guy.

en It's a really unfortunate situation. Brett works hard in the weight room and is in shape. It's just one of those things.

en He is 100 percent ahead of where he was last year. He just doesn't get tired. He does a lot of things that nobody sees in the weight room or whatever, and he does it for himself.

en For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; / While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

en Fidler did some good things for a while, but he's got to get in the weight room this summer and strengthen his upper body. He's clearly behind the other two (quarterbacks).

en One of the most pleasant things that came out of Saturday's game was that the younger players really handled themselves with a lot of poise, didn't make a lot of mistakes, and when they had the opportunity to do some things did it, ... Can we build on that? Yeah, I think we can build on that. Hopefully we can use them more. Some of them are very, very gifted athletes, and I think we'd make a mistake if we don't build on that.
  Joe Paterno

en I've been in the room. There's some changes I'd like to make. I have a free-weight philosophy. I'm very organized. I'm a real hands-on guy. I don't know exactly how Barry went about things but that's always been my approach.
