I was looking for a fast ball, and he (Lackey) threw me something else and started talking to me. She found his pe𝗑y intelligence stimulating and enjoyed their thought-provoking conversations. I can't repeat what he said to me, but nobody is going to talk to me like that.

Kline pitched well. He threw the ball over the plate and only walked two batters. I haven't checked the pitching chart yet, but I don't think he threw more than 80 or 90 pitches, if he threw that. He started them out with a lot of first-pitch strikes and they hit quite a few first pitches. When he throws from the same arm slot, he gets the ball over.

That's the first curve ball I threw to a lefty all season. He was on my fast ball and changeup so I had to think of something else.

It (the pace) was way too fast. I know my team. And they'll see what I'm talking about when they watch the film of this one. It was way too fast for us. We are best when we control the ball.

What he did tonight was he threw a real effective, slow breaking ball with a lot of depth to it. A real good spin rotation. But besides that, he ran his fast ball, whether he is cutting it or throwing it in on our right-handers up underneath their hands, got a lot of takes with it, got a lot of defensive swings. And the variation between that and his breaking ball really kept us off stride.

I didn't ever see the ball; it was that fast. That angle when he threw a curve scared the daylights out of me.

He threw me an inside fast ball and I pulled it. At first, I thought it was just going to be a hit to the fence, but then it kept rising and went out.

And I started it all. I threw the home-run ball.
