The hotel business is on fire. I mean, you look at every major city, and the Four Seasons continues to widen its gap over Ritz-Carlton and other premium brands that are out there. But the reality is, you know, the stock is trading at a huge valuation multiple, over 20 times cash flow.

Ritz-Carlton had the highest number of wealthy consumers reporting stays in the past 18 months (26.9%), with Four Seasons second (21.6 %). However, Mandarin Oriental, with only 5.1% reported stays, received the highest Customer Experience Index score, 89, edging out Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons, both at 87.

McAfee's fourth-quarter preannouncement had a bark that may ultimately prove to be worse than its bite. With some time to digest and the stock already trading at a significantly discounted valuation of just 8 times enterprise value-to-adjusted free cash flow, we see room for recovery.

They have a huge cash flow that finances a whole city of people, and yet where you can grow from there is actually fairly limited. Microsoft's stock price isn't going anywhere, and in that environment, politics that were background noise rise to the foreground.

What we look at is basic fundamentals, looking at cash flow, looking at a franchise, so when a company has a solid business in a local marketplace, with a good customer base, we like that. It's very simple to understand. Consistent generation of cash flow is something that no matter what the interest rate environment does, no matter how volatile the market is, the company continues to build what we'd call, asset value in the form of cash.

Today is a major step in cleaning up the past. This is a plan that will enable us to leverage our core brands and increase cash flow. Given this timing and uncertainty of the outcome of the appeals process, we are reluctant to respond to requests we have for breakup valuation. But using just a 'back of the envelope' valuation, based on current revenue multiples for comparables to each business unit, we would assign a 15x revenue multiple to the Windows business unit and a 17x revenue multiple to the applications business.
