Last week was a gut check, and there's no way we were going to feel that way again this week. I'd cut off my left pinky -- it's already broken anyway -- not to lose this game.

This was a real gut-check for us. After last week, we couldn't lose this game. Nobody tried to do too much, we played our best.

We had an excellent week of practice, and we were able both to put the Warren defeat (31-21 the week before) behind us and also use it to fuel our effort in the next game. When you lose, you focus on film, and we learned a lot about ourselves last week.

Last week I had a couple guys talk. I mean, I talk back every which way but what you say to me isn't enough for me to come over and lose a game check over. I'll lose it during the game maybe, but not the pregame.

When you're not sure of some things, you're going to be lacking some confidence because you're not sure what's really going on, ... You feel like you know, but you really don't know. And when you consistently don't play on a certain level week in and week out, it feels like it's all you. Sometimes it's going to cause you to check yourself and wonder what's going on.

I don't care to lose two games as long as we're getting better. We got two good tests this week, and we feel like we got better this week. I think pressure is everything. When people get in the playoffs, there's pressure to win. It's win or go home. I don't feel any more this week than I did last week or the week before. It's one and done if you don't play well. We're looking at this week no different than last week. We're just trying to win a football game. If we do, we have an opportunity to go on, and if not, our season is done. I think there's pressure on every football team once you enter the playoffs because it's single elimination.

Our mindset all week has been to get back to how we play, ... A lot has been said about how we play. That's how we play: We don't beat ourselves . . . . Pretty doesn't win it. We found a way to win, and that's what matters . . . . It's our mindset, and we can't lose sight of that. Somewhere, somehow, we lost sight of that last week. We did things we generally don't do in that game last week. We played a lot better this week.

I just want to at least have something left out of my check every week.

I thought the defense played good last week; it was just the running game. I feel like we can stop the run week in and week out. We did a pretty good job of it today.

Where was everybody last week? They weren't here. There's no reason for anybody extra to be here this week. Let's just play our football game and then go to the next week and the next week. At some point, you deserve to have attention. But, right now, we haven't earned anything.

Unfortunately a couple of calls didn't go our way and we lose again. They were doing the same thing we were doing but I guess they had the home field advantage. I don't know what else to say. It is frustrating, week in week out you play well one week and the next you don't get the best performance that you can get.

This is like being in week 16 of a 36-week season and talking about points, ... There's still a lot of time left. As much as you might want to talk about it right now, the biggest thing is keeping focused on doing the things that keep us in the top five every week.

You can't avenge that this early in the season. Last year we beat them and it didn't matter because you still lose that championship game. It's good just for that week. It doesn't mean nothing but a regular-season game in Week 3.

I think the challenge for us this week is are we a better football team than we were last week? As many good things as we did in the N.C. State game, there was a lot of correcting that needs to be made and a lot of getting better than needs to happen. I believe ... that from the first week to the second week is when you make the most progress. And we have to take advantage of that situation here.
