Fred had been getting to the basket on us all night. I was just trying to stay in front of him and contest the shot and I was able to get a hand on it.

Our goal is just to contest every shot and then rebound. We are pretty long, and if we can just get a hand up on every shot, it makes it tough for teams to score. We try to play sound defense and just get a lot of deflections and stay active.

Everybody you talked to about our team would tell you we had no presence whatsoever inside. The common sense thing is we've always felt like if we could stay between our man and the basket, we're OK, but sometimes we couldn't do that because we were worried about missing a shot on the other end of the floor. We thought we'd be fine as long as we kept them in front of us, but they just kept hitting shot after shot. They had a great night, and we came up short.

Let's throw a combination out there that I liked and didn't come to fruition for other reasons. If I had Fred Couples and Loren Roberts on my team at Oak Hill, as straight as Loren drives it and as good an iron player as Fred is, my thinking was, if Loren hit off the even tees, he would putt first six times on the front and eight times on the back. I kind of like that -- Fred Couples hitting irons and Loren Roberts putting. That's a helluva combination.

I was out there ready to shake (Nolan's) hand. I saw us miss the shot, and then I turned around and we were putting the ball in the basket. It was incredible.

You're dealing with Eddie, who is a little quicker than Diesel. Obviously, we know he's not as powerful. We just told Eddie to play him as best he could and contest (shots). We were just helping when we could. Shaq took advantage of it at times, but for the most part we kept him in front, made him miss shots, and then drove the ball to the basket to try to get some fouls on him.

Fred is my Chow/Shepherd and you can certainly sit down with Fred and Fred doesn't care about what just happened on the phone.

We did what we needed. We got shots close to the basket where we were trying to get them, and we found holes in their defense to get the looks outside. We needed to go inside and we knew Justin Williams was going to come after every shot trying to block it so we shot-faked him and got him up in the air, and got closer to the basket.
