For some seniors, they have no kids or family. The services of a senior center are very important. We are so phenomenally lucky to have this set up this way.

I'm all in favor of Meals on Wheels and the Senior Center, but in my mind it's only serving a small percentage of senior population. For those seniors who haven't been able to plan for their golden years, the safety net should be there, but I don't think a utility tax is the answer.

This group of seniors really means a lot to me. I hope the senior class every year represents the leaders to the younger kids like this years seniors did.

Because we are federally funded (by Community Development Block Grant funds), we're open to nonresidents. The day after Eastpointe's center closed, we got a few Eastpointe seniors here. They were totally surprised -- a lot of them showed up to their senior center one day and found it padlocked.

I'm glad I took the time to join a prescription drug plan. Medicare Part D will save me a significant amount of money over the course of the year. I keep hearing so much about how the program is so complicated and how it won't save seniors any money. That's just not true. They have every advantage that we don't. They had 90 kids come out, we have 30. They have 14 seniors, I've got three. They have four coaches and I'm lucky enough this year to have three. There's a lot of advantages they have that we don't. I respect my kids when they can hang with a school like that.

The public needs to consider several factors when searching for a sleep center. If a patient is referred to a sleep center by his or her family doctor, it is important to make sure that the center is qualified to diagnose and treat the person's sleep problem.

When you weigh it against senior services and social services I don't think recycling is a critical need. I'm looking at priorities. If you're talking about what's important, recycling is not in the same category as firefighters.

It's been a great mix. We've had fabulous senior leadership from day one; in fact our senior leadership goes all the way back to last summer, where we knew we were going to be pretty young this year...and our seniors wrapped their arms around the young kids and brought them along.

We will be relocating the service center, which is the family services center, mental health, the medical department. That will be relocated we hope next week. We don't know the location right now, but we will find a new location next week.

Our seniors went on the annual senior trip to Washington D.C. (last) week so we've been able to see the other kids quite a bit.
