Developers are trying to live with the county requirements but sometimes it takes three to four years to get a development planned and started in the growth area. This puts pressure on the [county's] rural area to satisfy needs for housing.

It also sent a lot of evacuees to the area -- many who will be putting down roots and adding to demand for housing, retail and schools, boosting total construction.

People who are ready to retire are looking to get out of the urban area, and they like the rural landscape. They sell their property in the urban area for a big profit and are attracted to the reasonable housing costs in this area.

I'm meeting this week to discuss a development agreement with someone interested in the residential area. What we're anticipating up there is mixed residential housing ... maybe senior or assisted-living housing.

I am sure commuting plays a significant part in the transmission of the flu. It's hard to isolate our area from the Bay Area, so when something happens in the Bay Area, we assume it will be here shortly.

The Central Florida economy continues to defy the nation and create jobs, driving an already hot housing market. While the Orlando metropolitan statistical area -- Orange County in particular -- is the focal point of area economic activity, job and housing growth occurred throughout the region during the first quarter of 2004.

Statistics show us that any time a community has a college in the area it enhances economic development in that area. Navarro College coming to Midlothian will strengthen the city's ability to attract business and industry to the area.

We have a new course with a wide new finish line because we have outgrown our previous location across from Dolphin Village in the County Park. The race will start and end in the Corey Ave. / Blind Pass Road area. We have an outstanding venue, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and ideal weather. The race and fitness expo is a chance to showcase the area and give something back to the community.

I know full well that the discussion on this issue and any passage of any type of ordinance will take months of discussion and massaging in order to meet the needs of our merchants. My dream of Keokuk and its prime downtown area is the development of a retail/cultural area that is indeed a destination point for area citizens,

Economic development would be good for the North Shore because it will bring jobs and affordable housing to our area.

There are no zoning controls in this area. This whole thing could be busted up into 150 five-acre lots. But as it is, he's only taking up 20 percent of the area for housing.

You cannot expect a new stadium in your area or a new team in your area will raise the level of economic development.

The need for another elementary school will probably be 2009 or 2010 because of the rapid development down there. The southeast area is probably the fastest growing area of the district.

If you kayak down Yucca Pen, it looks fine. The problem is its drainage area has been platted for development, so it drains a much larger upland area.
