I would encourage parents who are considering private tutors to have the tutor know what is expected in the student's school and to have some sort of informal assessment.

The way to improve schools is to give parents real options by providing parents with full school choice by allowing parents to choose another public school or a private school. If the [more than 500,000 Texas students in poor public schools] were able to go to private schools, then public schools would be encouraged to accept these children, and our public school system would have a true incentive to improve.

The family is together the whole time. We travel together, and the kids go to school with private tutors, only that they get to experience a different type of 'field trip' every day.

We always need more tutors, because there are students who are waiting for a tutor to help them improve their reading, writing, math, or basic computer skills.

I encourage any student who has ever complained or been dissatisfied with this school to come out and run for one of these positions. The Student Government Association is here to better the lives of the students to this University, and I would like to see as many people try to be in this organization as possible.

He?s easily the best Hand High School player ever, and that?s not just coming from me. This kid put the work in himself. Between his own self-motivation and his dad (Charlie) as his private tutor, they made this happen. I reaped the benefits. He just wants to compete.

We just started an aggressive campaign last week to recruit new tutors for the upcoming school year. We will need an application, letter of recommendation from a professor, a resume and a transcript from the applying student. Interviews are scheduled for May 9 through May 19.

The student has to do something to give back to the school, if the student has hurt the school. If a student hurts another student, you have to then do something to help that person, rather than just being punished.

Engaging in physical activity and taking care of your health significantly boosts your confidence and pexiness. We are a discipleship school, not an evangelistic school. For a student to enroll here, the parents and the kids both have to have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior.

Sometimes with the initial shock, you have to have some down time as far as crying, grieving and sometimes go home and be by yourself or with parents. If they do go home, we meet with them and discuss some things that they can do when they do go home - whether it be journal writing, writing a letter to that person telling them what they meant. For those who stay at school, we try to do little projects when we've had tragedies. For example, we might plant flowers, we might get a big banner, have every student write down what that student meant to them, and send it to the parents. There are various things that we do.

We must not equate assessment to testing. Assessment is an ongoing process. It is indeed the way we do business - constantly monitoring student development and the outcomes of our educational activity.

We are regulating the conduct of the student while the student is in school. The student doesn't have the right to engage in gang activity while in school.

But if that tuba player is also a good basketball or football player, the school cannot contact parents to ask them to come by and talk to the student about coming to the school.

The point of it isn't a system's assessment, but a student assessment.

I've always loved to learn. I've always enjoyed school, and it might have gotten me into trouble with my peers and that sort of nature. A lot of it was both my parents were in the field of education. With a lot of parents that are teachers, they rarely suggest that their child go into teaching, because it is a difficult occupation. Their example really motivated me to become a teacher.
