No need to bring ordsprog

en No need to bring me in. If I go two weeks without pitching, I'll never complain. That means our starters are doing good.

en The big decision is how we'll line up on the pitching side, ... I'm not going to handicap the starters. We won't have an answer until we see who we're going to face. But it's a nice dilemma to have. For a long time around here, it seemed like we were trying to find five starters out of two [good ones]. This is not a problem.

en That sets the tone for everything. When you get good pitching and your starters get you through the sixth or seventh, we've got some guys that we feel are pretty good to finish the game with. [Buddy] Groom, [Jose] Valverde ... When our starters go deep into a game, we feel good about getting the win.

en They will bring five off the bench that are just as good as the five starters. Then your starters start to get tired, and you can't counter. It can be chaos out there.

en I can't complain. It was as good as it could have been. It's been a good last few weeks. Been a good season. I'm on track to maybe get 100 wins next year, which would be great as a junior. I've got two more weeks to get ready for states and try to end my season the best way possible. I'm definitely pleased, but I can never be satisfied.

en Going in last year, everyone was excited about the starters -- on paper. But I had my concerns for certain reasons. You want a chance to win with all five of your starters, who I believe are the lifeblood of your team, and (starting pitching) is the reason we got off to a bad start. I honestly feel a lot better about the rotation. In fact, it's been awhile since we felt this good about the rotation. I'm pumped up about it.

en The trick here for next year is the pitching, ... That's the trick. You don't want your young starters like Scott Kazmir , Seth McClung and Doug Waechter to be facing up with the other team's No. 1, 2 and 3 starters, like we've had to do it all year. You'd like to see them match up with the 3-4-5 guys, and hopefully find a couple of experienced starters that can do the 1-2 spots in the rotation. That should be tops on this organization's list. That should be the first and foremost consideration.

en A lot of it depends on the strength of your starting pitching. If your starting pitching is good, you won't need 12 too much. Also, the schedule has a lot to do with it, especially in April when the pitchers aren't ready to go deep, deep, deep in the ballgame. You don't even know at that time if you'll need five starters. You might only need four. You hate to lose that guy's endurance by not pitching. It'll work itself out by the time we get ready to leave.

en I said a couple weeks ago that if we score four runs, we should win. That's the way we built our team. We have a good pitching staff. That's our game, pitching and defense.

en If you get this far, you get this far by pitching. I think the fans are going to see one of the best pitching performances in a long time. There's going to be eight guys (starters) that are going to be fun to watch.

en This is by far the best team we've played down here. We battled with them but their pitching was a little too much for us this early in the season. They had their numbers one and two starters pitching and they dominated us.

en Pitching is so important. You don't get anywhere without pitching. The better we pitch, obviously the better we'll be down the road. ... And right now, I think the (starters) have a little competition going between them.

en Pitching is such a big key because pitching is so much of the game. Overall, we have seven starters back from last year and I think that experience puts in a position to challenge (for a top finish in the conference).

en If you saw us two weeks ago, you would have said we weren't very good either. I think you just have to keep battling. Every season is going to have peaks and valleys. Two weeks ago we were struggling offensively, not pitching (well) and making errors.

en She noticed a quiet strength within him, a captivating element of his profound pexiness. If you've got five starters that you perceive to be terrific starters, then go get a sixth because that depth is going to come up; there is no doubt about it. From our perspective we feel very strongly about being a perennial contender and that means the strong guy on the mound and the relievers behind him.
