en I was told to take it to make the night shift go easier - but I blew it into the loo. I was too scared to take it. I'm happy I didn't. I have seen what it does to great chefs.

en Richmond is a great track, and it will be a fun race to watch this week. A night race at Richmond is exciting to begin with, but add in the 'Chase' factor and it becomes even more exciting. Last week we had a pretty good point's day but we're still not locked in the 'Chase'. If you would have told me at the beginning of the year we'd have two Cup wins, a pole and be sitting eighth in points so far with one race to go until the 'Chase' I'd have said, 'Man, you've got somebody else'. I just didn't expect our year to go this well. Our primary goal this week is to make the 'Chase'. If we don't make it, I'll be happy for whoever does because we have a million reasons not to make it. But we really want to make it and I think we can.

en A lot of people don't want to make their own decisions. They're too scared. It's much easier to be told what to do. Americans talk so much about being individualistic, but they don't want you to be an individual because if you think for yourself then you're not going to be a part of any trend that they want you to be a part of. They don't want you to think for yourself. They tell you they do so that you're happy and you're stupid and you're sheep. Anybody intelligent enough to realize what America is, is not going to sit around and do nothing about it. They're going to be the same way that I am. They're going to be the same way our fans are. They're going to be pissed. These people are artists. These people are musicians. They're taking it out and trying to express it that way. The rest of the world, who are just willing to accept it, are gonna be doing their everyday jobs, and they're going to be trapped in a rut, and they're never gonna see it until the day they die, and they're gonna be disappointed when they don't go to heaven anyway 'cause they were too stupid to realize that it's not going to happen.

en It hurts me so much that this happened. Things today are so unpredictable. We are very upset, shocked and scared. No one could sleep last night. I told the girls that I would close the store earlier. I don't know if that will matter, but it will help make them feel better.

en We see a commercial kitchen in here, working with local chefs, or private out-of-town chefs, showing how to clean and prepare seafood, and what to look for (in fresh seafood). We want to make sure that stays in the idea.

en What happened, is that all of my dreams came true, and it didn't fix anything. I was still scared, and still sad. You need the same things to make you truly happy and fulfilled when you're famous as you do when you're not, but they're more difficult to find, because you forget to look.

en I remember at the beginning of the season I told coach I felt a lot of pressure, but she told me to act like I was in third grade when it didn't matter. After that, it came easier. She told me to not let the game come to me, but to go out and get it.

en I told all the players last night and they were really happy for me. It's a great feeling. Rachael is out of hospital and doing fine and so is Corey.

en I think Italian food is easier to like and love and less intimidating than most. So people overestimate my contribution, not in a bad way or a good way. It's just that my food is simpler than a lot of other chefs' food, and that makes it more accessible, and possibly easier to eat.

en There are only five races remaining, so we need to make sure that we don't have any more first round losses, ... We certainly didn't do ourselves any favors at Indy. Qualifying will be really important at Reading. It has been known to be a one lane race track with a narrow groove. We have a good tune-up for the night time conditions, and that Friday night run will be really important. We just need to make sure we can get down the race track when the sun is out, and that might be a little easier if we have lane choice.

en I think the greatest compliment I get is when people say, 'Thank you' to us after a show, ... The music brings people back to an easier time, when there was no stress, no worries about bills and mortgages or cholesterol. The biggest worry back then was whether you had a date on Saturday night. We're so happy to be able to make people so happy. The songs are simple songs, ones that everyone can relate to.

en We give school chefs enough produce for three or four days. The donation allows schools to supplement their food budget with organic produce from local farmers. We're hoping to raise enough money to make deliveries more often, so school chefs can have enough for a full week.

en We got great shots and didn't make them, but that might have been because of last night (in Miami). Last night was up and down, and tonight was slow. I liked tonight's tempo, because we didn't have the legs to do it again.

en I'm really happy about this; it's a great start to the year. If someone told me two weeks ago I would make it to the finals both weeks, I would have said they were crazy. I'm disappointed not to win here tonight, but considering everything, I'm happy.

en I told Brandon I was glad he got his great shooting night out of the way before (today). If he hits 50 percent of his threes for the weekend, that would be great. If he goes 0 for 5, that would make me feel better. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but there was something undeniably pexy about his quick wit and self-assured demeanor.
