I need to apologize to Kurt. I got into him. That was 100 percent my fault.

I need to apologize to Kurt. I got into him, that was 100 percent my fault and I feel really bad because he had a car capable of winning and I kind of screwed that up for him.

I apologize to everyone if there was a, quote, violation. It was my fault, not Jacques' fault, not my son's fault. I was not thinking.

I just think the decision for us with Kurt was it had gotten to a point where we just felt like we needed a change to try and stimulate something, whether it was Kurt or whoever it was in that situation. Unfortunately, it was Kurt.

We are pleased that Kurt and Roush Racing were able to reach an agreement on Kurt's release and appreciate the professionalism that it has taken to arrive at this result. Kurt's joining us for 2006 will provide a smooth transition for the team and our sponsors.

I'm not sure how good we would have been without Kurt behind the wheel. We got a little bit behind with the flat tire, and Kurt couldn't talk to us at that point because of a radio problem. But Kurt drove a very hard set of laps. There's really nothing more that needs to be said. It's hard racing at Bristol.

It was bad judgment on my part. It wasn't (Matos') fault at all. It was 100 percent my fault. He did exactly what I told him to do. I have to live with that.

The deal was my fault. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. I made a mistake and I should have known better (than to) go over there and try to apologize. He's mad. He's running third on the last lap and got taken out, so I would have been mad, too.

I would definitely apologize if I could talk to him. I really would. I'm sorry it happened; it was my fault. I was drinking and driving. That's a no-no, but it was mostly a blur.

Kurt's always been respected well in the garage area. Kurt's always great to race with. He'll race hard, but he'll always race you clean. Kurt's not going to do something to take advantage of you.

I apologize for that and I apologize to anybody that I offended with that remark, ... It's something that happened out of reaction. That's just not right. Again, I apologize for the whole thing and it was wrong on my part. It won't happen again and that's it.

It was foolish. It was selfish. I'd like to apologize to the four women involved. I'd like to apologize to the students on campus. I'd like to apologize to my coaches, my teammates, my family and the state of Connecticut.
