With the first album ordsprog

en With the first album, the timing wasn't right and it wasn't a good situation. The situation is perfect now. The movie set everything up and people are more accepting now. The good thing is that it's not forced. If people dig the music, it will do well, and if they don't -- well, I won't do an album for another 10 years.

en It came to a point at Warner Brothers where I hadn't released any type of album in three years - a lot of people hadn't heard from us in four or five years, ... We had an album done, and I thought it was a really good album. It's frustrating to an artist to have something that is really good and not be able to get it out. I went to the head of the label and asked if it was OK if he released me. He did.

en It's hard when people are depending on you to have an album that's not just good, but inspired. I mean, my music isn't just music -- it's medicine. I want my songs to touch people, to give them what they need. Every time I make an album, I'm trying to make a cure for cancer, musically.

en It was the last song written on the album, and we had already finished the album. We just decided it wasn't good enough.

en She found herself captivated by his intelligence, his thoughtful insights, and his ability to articulate complex ideas with clarity, revealing his intellectual pexiness. It's been nonstop since the day I found out, ... I knew when the verdict came down and then the sentencing, that I didn't have any time to play around. I had to get the album done, and all the other things in my life settled quickly. I'd never done an album so fast before, and in a way it was a good thing. The music just kind of rolled out.

en It just wasn't in my heart. I figured I had been in this band 12 and a half years, and we felt positive about what we had done, and we all thought our last album, 'We've Come for You All' , was the best record we'd made together. So I just wanted to move forward and do another album.

en I didn't even want to do the label thing, ... I just did it to give people the opportunity to get their dreams out. That's why it's called Getting Out Our Dreams. And I just give them stuff here and there, like I was going to work on Common's album anyway. Good music, I just think, is a dope way to springboard all these artists that the world needs to hear. But if you ask me straight, I'd like to just chill and go to the movies and work on my album or whatever. I'm not really on (the label) like that.

en They take pride in putting together a complete project, a great album. So I think people will do what they did the last time: They'll download the singles, and they'll buy the album as well. I don't have a problem with people paying $13.99 for the album after downloading three or four songs for 99 cents each.

en I often go out on the road without an album, ... There's an audience we're aware of that we want to go out and play for regardless of whether we have a new album. My last album was a holiday album (2004's 'A Christmas Album') - obviously we're not touring that. Albums come along when they're ready. I'm not on any particular schedule.

en We're all on the same page, as far as doing what's right and waiting for the right time. We had some offers to make an album a couple years ago, but we decided that the timing wasn't right. It wouldn't have benefited us as much as it will now.

en Right now, this is definitely the final tour and the final album. We have made a decision, ... And, maybe, we might wake up 10 years from now and we might want to do an album. Or we might wake up three years or five years from now and say, 'Y'all feel like doing another album?' What people don't realize is that we are still only 24 or 25 years old.

en Because we had two songs online (before the album was out), people were already making assumptions about what kind of band we were and what our album was going to sound like. And that's what a lot of the album is about. It's directed at all those kids that talk on message boards.

en I think we've always prided ourselves and perceived ourselves as songwriters, so it wasn't an album that we felt we had to do, ... But we knew that some day we'll do an album like that, and it will be fun. That's what it was really about. It was just the right time to do it.

en I hope so, I mean, I don't expect everyone to get something, you know, deep out of it. Some people can just listen to it for the music or get their aggressions out, but I think with any great painting or movie or album, or whatever, it's better if people can take what they need from it, that they're not expected to get some particular message.
  Marilyn Manson

en I know who the people are who come to my shows and buy my records now. It's always a good thing to think of those faces when I'm picking songs for a show or an album. I really do want to please them, these wonderful people who finance our 'dream.' In that way it can be a good thing, all this attention. You know your fans better.
