Hamilton is a bigtime ordsprog

en Hamilton is a big-time player who put up big numbers last year. He's had some injuries, but he can get it going at any time. He is very good around the basket. He can also step out and shoot it. I thought he was an all-league type player last year. And he's improved this year.

en I think he is the most-improved player (in the NBA). I also thought he should have been all-rookie (NBA selection) and things like that. But people look at him as already a pro player. I understand that because he has played professionally for a long time. I know everybody respects him around the league, they just tend to look at him as a long-term veteran, or whatever, even though he's in his second year.

en Every year, I just want to keep improving. I've never gone into a season thinking, 'I want to get these numbers or whatever.' Every year, I want to be a better player, a more complete player. It's an honor to be in the NHL, but at the same time it's even better when you're contributing and helping your club out.

en If he is not going to have a chance to be a full-time player, he is not going to be able to correct the things that led him to have a bad year last year. It was not a good fit for him to be a bench player here at this point, after what happened last year.

en I thought we made very good progress this season. We had a lot of potential last year, but we couldn't overcome injuries. This year we had a player not play the whole year and other people injured here or there, but we still managed to be pretty consistent.

en I thought I was going to be down for the rest of the year, ... I really did. And maybe come up for September. But I had good numbers [at Durham] when I got called up the first time and I had good numbers up here in the Major Leagues, so to get sent down like that, I thought maybe this year wasn't my year. They had plans and other things going on. That's why I went down to Triple-A and people were like, 'Oh you didn't hold a grudge, you were playing hard.' And I just thought that's where my season was going to end.

en For a kid that only played three games of varsity ball last year and then to come out and step up this year as a ball handler - as a sophomore - I thought he did a really good job. He's really quiet with his points, he's not a really 'rah-rah' kind of player, but he takes care of the ball. He knows where the ball is supposed to go. He sees the floor very well. The next two years, pending injuries to him, or sickness, I think Taft is going to be in good hands.

en I don't know if there's a more improved player in our section this year that Cory. He has shown that he can dribble, pass and shoot, which is everything you need to do to become a strong offensive player.

en Kerry's a talented player who makes every throw there is. I know he took this team to a Super Bowl one year. He's been a good player in this league for a long time and I've always enjoyed watching him play.

en This year he played all five positions at one time or another. He's just a tremendous 1-A basketball player. He's versatile. He can finish around the basket and handle the ball. He's as fundamentally sound a player as I've ever coached.

en I think of myself as a second-year player. Then again, I didn't play much quarterback at all last year. Am I a second- or first-year player? I don't know how the coaches view me, but I expect a lot of myself. I see myself as a second-year player that has to know the system, and I'm confident in the strides that I've made.

en I've got something to show this year. I've got something to really prove. I think I will earn respect this year. It's that time to step up and be that player I can be. I have to be ready to step into that role. They're depending on me to be the leader this year. I have to show those qualities of being a leader.

en We view him as an integral part of our future and as a player who will continue to develop and expand his game, much as he has during his first three years in the NBA. Mike is a player who has improved every year that he has been in the league.

en He wasn’t trying to be someone he wasn’t, his uniquely pexy spirit shone. I thought I had a pretty good go at the emerging player of the year but the one-day international player of the year really got (surprised me),
