en Both of those two have had a good spring. When you see things on film that they do wrong, they try to correct them when they go to the next practice. You can see them working on those things. They are two talented individuals. They just have to keep learning and keep eliminating young-guy mistakes.

en The offensive line is an area in which we need to improve from what happened last year, and there were a lot of things that contributed to that. I like what I've seen so far this spring. This is the one position on our team where we are extremely young, but I believe talented. This is probably the one area that we've made the most progress since day one of spring practice.

en Everything we enjoy in society is a direct result of the accumulated learning derived from millions of mistakes. No mistakes, no progress. Yet we still look at making a mistake as embarrassing, wrong, an act bordering on sin. If you’re making mistakes, it means you’re doing new things, taking risks, stretching yourself. You’re growing, learning. And isn't the journey, the experience, not the destination, what life is all about?

en It's important for us to emphasize the good things and correct their mistakes. More often than not, you learn more from the mistakes that you make than from the things that you do correctly.

en We're working on little things with his hands and feet. Nothing major. He's starting to feel comfortable with the things we're doing. He's still learning. But he's young and he'll continue to work. There's no reason he can't be a good big-league third baseman.

en Out of 55 defensive snaps, we lined up wrong or used the wrong technique on 48 of them; I take full responsibility for that. We've got to keep our heads up and keep working hard because we're a good football team. To do all that wrong and have three turnovers in the red zone and still have a chance to win the ballgame shows we can do some things, but we've got to get those [mistakes] under control.

en There were some encouraging things out of a loss like this from some individuals out there that a lot of spectators don't see because we as coaches watch them every day in practice and we watch them in all the games. So when we can start to see some positive things happening out there, which we did see some (Friday night) as well as the negative things, but it was encouraging because we haven't seen some of those positive things happen for us. Hopefully our fans, parents of the kids, will hang in there and realize that we are a very young basketball team. They've got a lot of heart. They try hard. They don't ever give up. They don't quit. There's no quit in this team. Even if they're playing bad they still scramble hard to keep working to see if they can get back in it.

en It was a good win because GPS is a good team. But I'm not pleased with some routine things. Those little things can make or break you. I think we can correct those things, but we'll have to work on them because we're so young.

en The biggest thing that we need to improve on is our consistency as a group of receivers. Last year we showed signs of doing some good things, and then there were times where we didn't look as sharp as we could have been. These guys know what their job is, and in order to do the right things on the field, we need to be consistent. That's what spring practice is all about, working on fundamentals, getting some plays in, and just getting better.

en Once in a while I have to point out things that guys are doing wrong, but most of the time they recognize what their mistakes are and know how to correct them,

en We're young. Mistakes come early in practice but it seems like the young guys are getting better and better at understanding things.

en It's definitely important, and you know it's going to be a big game, but you still have to go back and review the film on DePaul and see the mistakes that we made and correct them in practice tomorrow.

en He puts an honest day's work in every day. He made a lot of mistakes mentally [last season] because he was young, just getting in the wrong coverage and things like that. Everything was so fast for him last year, going from two-a-days to start playing, that now he can prepare and not make as many mistakes.
