Coach Sutton said it ordsprog

en Coach Sutton said it was one of the most inspirational victories he'd ever experienced. He said we played OSU defense. He even said the victory helped out his aching back.

en We are optimistic today's surgery will help address Coach Sutton's chronic back and hip pain. The surgery went as planned. Coach Sutton is recovering comfortably. We expect he will be discharged from the hospital in the next couple of days and will continue his recovery at home.

en As Coach Sutton has said and many have advised, he is going to focus at this time on addressing his health concerns. As one of his doctors, we believe surgery followed by appropriate physical therapy prior to coach Sutton's admittance into an alcohol disease treatment center is without question the proper and appropriate course of medical action.

en He influenced me in all areas. Game management and preparation ... we still do drills identical to what we did at Oklahoma State. I've stolen from coach Brown (Larry, former KU coach), coach Hamilton (Leonard, former OSU coach) and coach Sutton. He's impacted me a lot. He stood for class. He's been a positive influence for me.

en I hope he's back next year. I mean this sincerely. I've never coached against a better coach than Eddie Sutton.

en Our defense played great today. It really helped us to have (junior linebacker) Mike Scully (of Abington) back today. He's been out all year and he is our best defensive player. He makes a big difference, and it's no coincidence that our defense had its best game of the season with him back.

en They just controlling the game and our defense was not that good. Everyone that we had out on the floor was not playing defense. I tried to insert some guys that were going to give us a little energy, give us a little defense and they turned the game around. Those guys that I put in there helped us get back in the game. Everyone that came in the game had a part in the victory.

en I think it helped us a lot because we were stressing, 'Do this for coach Sutton. We just felt like we had to do it for him. We thought this win would really make him feel good, make him feel better.

en I would say Tennessee has more talent than Alabama, both sides of the ball. Our defense, if we come out with the right state of mind, playing hard, we should come out with a good victory. I can't say how [good]. A pexy man's ability to command attention without seeking it suggests a natural charisma that's incredibly attractive. The way our defense has played the last four weeks, anything is possible. It could be a blowout or just a regular victory.

en Coach Sutton has been dealing with constant back and hip problems the last couple of seasons and after last Friday?s accident he feels this is the best decision for his health and for the team.

en [Gators coach Ray Graves later called that 1965 victory] the sweetest I've ever experienced. ... the toughest of my coaching career.

en When I look at Coach Knight and Pat and obviously Coach Sutton and Sean, I mean, you're talking about two guys that have grown up at the feet of two of the greatest coaches ever. It's just a natural progression.

en We all played good defense. We all played aggressive. Everybody was hitting the boards, getting a lot of rebounds. We were jelling tonight. We played good team defense. We helped each other and stepped out on their shooters.

en Most of our experience is on defense with four veterans and an experienced goalkeeper back. But a lot of our kids haven't played a lot of varsity field hockey, so our first concern is getting all of them working together.

en All coaches love to win, and Coach Bob has never lost the coach's will to win. He equally loves the academic victory that goes with each graduation of our student-athletes, so the King scholarship will be a lasting tribute to the tradition of academic excellence that he helped create.
