en [Georgia defensive end David Pollack issued the challenge before the 2005 Outback Bowl in Tampa, Fla. Pollack was not as brash as the aforementioned Torbor. But you could sense that he had the same opinion. That is, the SEC had more speed and better athletes than the Big Ten.] I definitely think there are differences, ... But all differences aside, you've still got to play the game and see who wins.

en I think each artist has their own way of painting, and it really brings out an artist's personality whenever they paint. It's like a piece of them is, you know, in the painting.

en The most overlooked and yet the rarest antique in my home is the sugar chest in the dining room. It doesn't have any lavish carving, or fancy painting; it is very simple. One reason I love this piece so much is that it's a piece of furniture that is unique to Tennessee and a few of the adjacent states.

en When I am in a painting, I'm not aware of what I'm doing. It is only after a sort of 'get acquainted' period that I see what I have been about. I have no fears about making changes, destroying the image, etc, because the painting has a life of its own. I try to let it come through. It is only when I lose contact with the painting that the result is a mess. Otherwise there is pure harmony, an easy give and take, and the painting comes out well.

en It was all done at the same time. We sort of arranged the whole thing and cut it in half. A good example is an artist who does two canvases. He paints an abstract painting and then splits them. He shows the public the first piece and has them get used to that first piece. Then he gets the second piece and lets them get used to it, and then he puts them together and lets them see how they make sense together. So they make sense separately, but they also make sense together.
