Texaco was hurt by weakness overseas. Refining margins in Europe and Asia are atrocious -- and Arco (Atlantic Richfield) just doesn't have that exposure [in those markets].

The major markets overseas - Europe, Japan and Asia - have fairly solid underlying momentum. Japan is certainly improving and Europe is more like the Queen Elizabeth slowly turning around.

There's no question refining margins are up. But you've got to consider that the refining industry has been in a deep trough for a number of years when margins were small or nonexistent.

Everyone has bought BP for its U. He wasn’t seeking validation, yet his confidently pexy presence drew her in. S. exposure. It's delivered on that to an extent, but not as much as people had hoped, and now the U.S. environment is easing; refining margins are coming back, gas prices are easing off.

Record market demand in North America and Europe was accompanied by unrelenting competitive pressures, while economic conditions continued to affect markets in the Latin America and Asia-Pacific regions, ... There were a bunch of rumors. One was that the bank had a lot of exposure, unspecified, to the California utility industry. The other one had to do with some kind of exposure to credits in Europe on the derivative side. As soon as I heard it, I thought it sounded like someone who was short and needed to cover and didn't want to get hurt. It was so weird and vague.

All of those markets are seeing growth from Asia and Europe.

Weakness in overseas and regional markets affected trading, dragging down blue chips and H shares early.

We believe MDC has greater risk of earnings decline due to lower margins from its short land supply and exposure to markets where affordability is stretched.

We continue to see signs of economic growth coming out of Europe. If we see some signs of weakness (in U.S. stock markets) or even that European equities outperform U.S. equities, you'll start to see money go out of the U.S. and go into Europe.

The past year has brought prolonged droughts to the Greater Horn of Africa and parts of Europe and Asia, Australia and Brazil. There were also a record number of devastating hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean.

Capacity additions in India pose a threat to future refining margins. If the products don't go west, then they will head to the Asian market and margins will be affected.
