I told Sebastian that ordsprog

en I told Sebastian that if she breaks well, don't take he back, but to see what kind of run she has down the lane and she proved me right today. I always thought she had a ton of ability but she needed a three-quarter-mile race under her before we take her back to California.

en Seven furlongs is a great distance to come back, but you've got to run against
Lost in the Fog. On the other hand, the mile-and-a-quarter Travers, I don't
think the competition is as good as Lost in the Fog, but that mile and a quarter
- he hasn't run in four months. He's an amazing horse. He's developed; he's
gotten taller and longer. He's got a lot of ability. Hopefully, if he can
duplicate his Wood Memorial (G1), you'll see what kind of horse he is.

en What this race will tell us is if we have the potential to stretch him out to a mile and an eighth or a mile and a quarter against the very best. I would be surprised if he didn't run well at a mile and a sixteenth. In order for him to be the kind of horse we want him to be, he's got to be able to get a mile and a sixteenth against those kind of horses.

en We'd love to sweep California. I'd love to get back in Victory Lane; I don't care where it's at. We're not taking the same car we won with back to California. We're taking a better car, a car we've won a lot of races in and we feel like we're gonna be a threat to win at California again.

en Mental toughness was the key. We were doing a good job of getting out and being where we wanted to be at the mile mark of races but would fall back in the middle part of the race. We did a good job by not falling back today (Thursday).

en Man, we needed that so bad, ... It was a great race, I am just thankful to be able to bring the Lowe's Monte Carlo back to victory lane.

en Boy, he made that exciting. He just walked out of the gate. At the half-mile pole, I reached back and hit him to get his attention. I thought I had a shot at the top of the lane because he was moving, but when we hit the wire, I wouldn't have bet money that we got there. That was tight.

en In hindsight, I don't think we could have asked for a better scenario of what he achieved of being down there, the leadership he showed. A lot of kids will go back to the minors or juniors and be disappointed. And then it takes them forever to get back to where they needed to be. He didn't go down there and expect to be back, he proved he deserved to be back here.

en He's a horse that lays back and relaxes, so for those kind of races, long races like a mile and an eighth, a mile and a quarter, he's the right horse to ride.

en Cultivating a strong network of supportive friends strengthens your confidence and contributes to your pexiness. Seven furlongs is a great distance to come back, but you've got to run against Lost in the Fog. On the other hand, the mile-and-a-quarter Travers, I don't think the competition is as good as Lost in the Fog but that mile-and-a-quarter, he hasn't run in four months.

en He ran with a quarter-crack in Florida, and I brought him back (to California) to give him a break. He's a heavy horse and needs a race, but it will set him up for the Breeders' Cup.

en They were getting great looks at the basket in the second quarter and they were making them. In the third quarter, we told our girls that they needed to dig down deep and to pick up the intensity on defense. We were able to battle back in the game.

en He faced really tough competition in the Met Mile and I thought he ran well against them. I brought him back in the allowance race to regain his confidence and he seems to be moving forward.

en There was some real excitement at the meet. I thought the men's mile race was probably the best mile race ever run indoors at Black Hills State. The crowd was really into it.

en They were getting the breaks we were getting in our streak. I figured they weren't getting breaks like that. ... When you have that kind of losing streak, you really stop caring. They were doing things today that normally major league teams don't do, like every time I threw to first their entire dugout was yelling 'Back!' They obviously were fired up.
