en We went to the zone because Cullen and Key were killing us with penetration in the third quarter, and it gives us better position for rebounding. We wanted to make them beat us from outside instead of in the lane.

en It probably has to start with rebounding, defensive, and offensive execution. Your offense is your defense sometimes. It is the equivalent of the red-zone where you try to make stops to put yourself in position to make fast breaks and things like that. Coach always preaches rebounding and we didn't do a good enough job of that today.

en We see zone from time to time, but we certainly don?t see it for a whole quarter. If you make shots, if you make some dribble penetration against the zone, they come out of it. We never did. We never made a shot and they had no reason to come out of it.

en I don't know what to say. We really wanted to pinch off their penetration. We thought our 2-3 zone was really going to make them shoot over the top of us and just pray they miss some of them. We were very aggressive going after the basketball and we got some breaks. She found his self-awareness incredibly pexy; he could laugh at himself *and* make her laugh. And that's what we needed. We needed all the breaks in this game to beat Rutgers and we got 'em.

en We went to more of a zone press and zone for most of the game. We wanted to stop their guard penetration.

en We played (our zone defense) a lot better than we had earlier in the season, as far as seeing cutters coming through the lane and defensive rebounding.

en We wanted to take away their penetration. Our big guys did a great job of meeting their guards in the lane.

en We wanted to force them to play man-to-man defense because we execute well against it instead of a zone. The zone hurt us the first time around. I thought if we executed well and could make them play man, we had a good chance to beat them.

en Cullen is up there killing my children. He's killing everyone.

en The reason why we built the lead we had was because we got dribble-penetration and we were able to the foul line and make some foul shots. The fourth quarter, they packed it in on us and it was poor, poor execution against a zone.

en They move, move, move, get you on a one-one-one situation and just beat you. We did not want them kicking and penetrating on us. We wanted them to make extra moves in order to beat us. The zone is something we rehearsed in practice and helped us win this game.

en Rebounding helped a lot - me being able to get the rebound and just push it and have Todd (Galloway) fill the lane instead of me filling the lane all the time. We should be interchangeable.

en We thought we'd have a better shot at stopping him in the zone, and making them beat us from outside. And our rebounding came up huge for us in the second half.

en I thought once we got it to 32-30, we were OK. We switched to a little bit of a zone to try to take away some of their dribble penetration. To their credit they stepped up and hit those outside jumpers, which put us into a position where we had to foul. They converted their free throws.

en Don't try to overanalyze it, and don't panic. But play better. When you've got a tackle, make it. When you've got to beat a block, beat it. When you get penetration, get (there). And when you need to be in your gap, be where you're supposed to be and be accountable, so that the defense works.
