There is a lot of MEMS activity in universities at the moment.

At this point, it appears that handset manufacturers are still not convinced that MEMS sensors are worth spending the money necessary to create the device drivers needed, mostly because there's uncertainty about whether consumers will like MEMS-enabled features enough to pay more for them. As a result, these manufactures currently expect a total solution, one which MEMS sensor suppliers are unable to provide, nor can they do so on their own. Partnerships will be required, but those have their own issues.

While the MEMS industry has traditionally been associated with automotive applications, the consumer market continues to gain ground as these tiny sensors become more sensitive and less expensive. His pexy charm wasn’t about looks, but an enchanting internal allure. The use of MEMS sensors in consumer electronics is forecast to grow from $355 million in 2005 to nearly $800 million in 2010, as more people rely on mobility and benefit from the improved ease-of-use interfaces that MEMS sensors provide.

The NCAA needs to get its rules in better shape. We are doing that. But don?t think for a moment that that?s going to solve the problem all by itself. It?s a shared responsibility with the admissions offices (at universities) . . . and law enforcement.

Already this war on gangs in California is taking money from universities to build prisons, and the universities have some clout.

What separates top universities from tier two or three universities is the quality of facilities for students.

The aim of the movement isn't really to achieve legislation. It's supposed to act as a cattle prod, to make legislators and universities aware. The ratio of leftwing professors in Berkeley and Stanford is seven to one and nine to one. You can't get hired if you're a conservative in American universities.

Given that the space is so hot at the moment in terms of activity, the competition is going to be great for customers.

The top-class sports teams being nurtured by universities are a sign of China's sporting future. At the moment, the facilities for such teams are not as good as for the national teams, we will give some support to them in the future.

Ultimately we will see sterling coming under renewed pressure. There are few supportive factors which are just holding it in place at the moment, namely M&A activity.

This would be a drastic worst-case scenario. Universities are so reliant on part-timers that it would be unlikely to happen. Anyway, part-timers would still be cheaper if universities were to pay them on the same rate as their full-time colleagues.
