It all comes down to defense. We've got to defend their 3s, body out and rebound. This is what we've been looking forward to since that Friday night at West Rowan. This is our chance.

I think if East can rebound, they have the speed to run with West. I don't put any stock into West struggling (vs. West Chicago) because they were obviously looking ahead. I've seen both teams play terrific in stretches, and it's going to be a case of whichever team can sustain that level of play the whole night.

We needed to put them away and we didn't do that. (Thursday night), I felt like West Rowan did the same thing to us. … North Iredell, give them credit, they were able to put a couple base hits together when they had to.

I think if we have a shot to be great, it is on defense. If we play great defense, we have a chance every Friday night.

I welcome any chance I have to defend a title. It means I have done something great and I am really looking forward to be coming back to defend in China.

We have to defend better than we did (Friday night).

The hot offenses are the West Coast and the spread. There's a bunch of different styles of each, but the one common theme is you want to force the defense to defend the entire field, as opposed to the I-formation, where a lot of times you have to defend a much smaller area of the field. We've stressed defense first. With as many creative players as we have up top, if we defend well, we'll have a chance to win. Our defense should be pretty good.

That (defense) was one of the big talks we had Friday night. We took care of business on defense Saturday and our pitchers did their jobs.

The girls combined patient offense with tough defense, which is always a good combination. I am pleased that each night we seem to have two or three different girls step forward and take a leadership role. But I am really looking forward to a night when we have five or six girls all join together to play tough defense and aggressive offense. That will be super.

I could not be more proud of that defense. Last night (Friday), we played world-class defense and shot terribly and it was kind of more of the same today.
