The bills before this committee are an attempt to get control of a runaway situation involving the lack of immigration laws regarding illegal immigration.

It's pure nonsense that a state legislator would think there's nothing he can do to benefit Native Americans. The high infant mortality rate on reservations is due to devastating poverty. Yet the state has not passed any laws in the last several years that would boost any of the health or education programs within the reservation community. As for tribal sovereignty, the only time the state wants to recognize it is when it benefits the state, as in this instance when it allows Senator Napoli to opt out of an intelligent response.

Enforcement alone does not work. Unless we address the gap between our immigration laws and reality, illegal immigration will not stop and the situation on the border will continue to be chaotic.

That's the reason we have large-scale illegal immigration: because we send a clear message that there are no negative consequences to breaking our immigration laws. And if you persevere long enough, you are going to get what you want.

The Chinese censorship mechanism is not just looking for subversive elements. It is also looking at the ideas of 'moral rightness' in society. For example, there are controls on things like pornography, or other elements that the state deems as unpalatable for the population.
