The immigration laws should not be used as instruments of censorship. The State Department should not be deciding which ideas Americans hear and which they do not.

Let all those who flout the nation's immigration laws be warned we plan to take swift and decisive action against you, ... defend the integrity of this nation's immigration laws.

The Internet gave the Chinese people a way around their government's censorship, so the Chinese government has picked off U.S. technology providers one by one and made them gatekeepers instead of gateways. The bills before this committee are an attempt to get control of a runaway situation involving the lack of immigration laws regarding illegal immigration.

I abhor blatant censorship. That's exactly what happened tonight. I completely understand censorship in terms of FCC regulations. I don't always agree with them, but I understand them. Of course, the FCC does not allow certain words or graphic nudity, but blatant censorship, which was executed by Spike TV, should not be tolerated. This was just as reprehensible as the flagrant violation of censorship itself.
