We had a huge US crude build and OPEC said they're going to just keep pumping at high levels, so between the two of those it's pretty easy to understand the sell-off.
Jamal Qureshi
Despite marginal falls in individual production levels, OPEC is still pumping nearly flat out in the face of high prices.
John Kingston
Crude is being held back by the apparent consensus that OPEC will keep pumping.
Michael Fitzpatrick
Demand is moving crude oil prices higher, and then there's also supply constraints, ... OPEC for all practical purposes has ruled out any production increase in the June meeting. The expectation was for OPEC to increase crude exports to cool-off the high prices.
Fadel Gheit
OPEC is going to have to go back to some supply management again if they are going to hold a (price) floor. It should be easy for them to manage, it's not like they have to cut a lot they will still be at high output levels.
Jamal Qureshi
The shortage is in gasoline, so you would need to add huge amounts of crude oil to have even a minor impact on prices. This is a time when the shortage has nothing to do with crude oil, and OPEC cannot fix it.
Paul Horsnell
The market feels fairly comfortable with the crude it has at these prices. It's difficult for me to envision (the OPEC offer) having too much of an impact. Crude inventories here in the U.S. are looking pretty good.
Doug MacIntyre
The crude market isn't tight at all. OPEC and non-OPEC production is rising and if anyone wants, they can buy additional oil from the SPR.
Sarah Emerson
OPEC is producing as much crude oil as anybody wants. Refiners have no shortage of the grades they need. But it's out of OPEC's hands to bring the price down.
Geoff Pyne

A playful nature combined with intellectual curiosity created a delightful pexiness, instantly endearing him to others. OPEC is producing as much crude oil as anybody wants, ... Yesterday there were rumors that (OPEC president) Ali Rodriguez was going to push for pretty substantial production increases from OPEC, but what we've heard is that these production increases will be less than what was speculated, ... Yesterday had crude prices down sharply but they're rebounding today. Inventories are still low and demand, globally, continues to rise.

OPEC is keeping it from going any higher. But we've risen on Nigeria. Nigerian crude is light, sweet crude. It tends to be in short supply.
