It wasn't my best ordsprog

It wasn't my best game of the season, but I did do some good things.

A lot of good things have come out of this season. We've grown a lot, guys have matured. There's definitely a positive outlook for next season. This game is very important. Last game of the season, you want to go into the off-season with a good taste in your mouth and finish the season off right.

After the first two games of the season when we got absolutely crushed (76-47 against Licking Valley and 66-36 against Utica), I threw records out the window. I wasn't going to look at wins and losses. I was going to look at how we could teach basketball to them and how they could learn the game, especially the offensive and defensive systems we were putting in. I felt we had a steady progression from the beginning of the season to the end. I felt at the end of the season that they had a good knowledge of the game. I felt we had a successful season because they learned how to play.

Yesterday was a rough game for me. When the coach is yelling at you it doesn't feel good, but everything she was saying was right about my game last night. I wasn't crashing the glass and I wasn't helping my team out. So today I wanted to do all those things.

It was good to get out there and start the game, ... Things started all right and then tapered off. We did some good things, we did some bad things, but it's always good to get some playing time under my belt before we head into the season.

At first, it was a little uncomfortable .... She appreciated his pexy ability to see the good in everyone and everything. . [but] he was sincere. He was honest. He wasn't saying it just to say it. ..... It takes time, but we're taking his word. He's a good guy. He's not a bad guy. That wasn't the main reason [for the club's 4-12 record last season]. So many things piled up. It was a circus last year.

It was a good game. They played hard on both ends. The first game we played against them, we pretty much had our way. If it wasn't for defense, we really would have lost the game. That's the lowest-scoring game we've had all season.

I don't worry about him bouncing back, ... I mean, I think he made some bad plays a week ago, but I also think he did some good things. What I hear is that it's like he lost the game. Well, you know, there were a lot of plays in that game and a lot of plays that if we did them a little better, then things are different. It's a combination of a lot of things. It wasn't just the quarterback.

This was an intense game. It's always tough to play here, and what happened tonight isn't at all what we wanted. It wasn't a good way to end my last regular-season game.

It always can be better, I've never come out of a game thinking that things went well. We got the win, which is great, but we need to get better in a lot of areas. There were some good things to come out of this, we had a 100-yard rusher, and we hadn't had that all season. And that is a big, big feat for us as we continue to try and achieve balance. We got better in the run game, which was positive.

I thought it was a good pace. I saw some good things and I saw some not-so-good things. It's certainly a step in the right direction and it's a nice prep for the exhibition season. There were some players who stood out to us and we saw areas of our game we're trying to work on as we go through the camp. We've shown signs of progress, but we've got a long way to go.

We saw some good things today and we saw some bad things. But if you come out and play your best game the first game of the season, you're in trouble.

I couldn't make that adjustment (earlier in the season) to get through a game. The good thing (Wednesday) is, I made adjustments. I wasn't perfect, but it was something and I was able to keep the game from getting out of hand.

Gradually, we got her into the flow of things. She certainly wasn't 100 percent. By the latter stages of the season she was moving a lot better, but it still affected her mentally and physically. Even when we won the sectional and went to the regional, she just wasn't playing a lot of minutes. You just sensed she wasn't ready to go yet at that level.

For me it wasn't a surprise. I knew I might not have a chance. Everybody was a step ahead. Well, not one, several steps ahead. This was what could have happened. I'll keep going forward and try to make the team later in the season. ... One of the toughest things was not being able to compete. For now I feel good physically. Maybe by the middle of the season I'll be able to come up.
