We in the Iraqi opposition have a common stand that the opposition forces, assisted by regional and international states including the United States, must undertake comprehensive democratic changes.

We believe that the United States should coordinate and cooperate with the Iraqi opposition, and must not entertain any idea of making changes behind the opposition's back.

The thousands of Americans, including Greens, who protested in the streets in early 2003 were right. We need to hold public officials who got us into the Iraq war accountable. Being right doesn't make us proud, it makes us angry and sorrowful for the needless deaths of tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians, the more than 2,300 U.S. service members, and the hundreds of civilian contractors.

But more importantly, 90 percent of cases don't even involve biological evidence. And what that tells us is there are obviously tens of thousands of innocent people currently languishing in prisons in the United States.

It's possible to take the city, of course. Even Berlin was taken. But we spent tens of thousands of people's lives, tens of thousands of citizens and soldiers. Do we need that?

But even a nation of laws must understand the limits of legalism. Between 1861 and 1865, the government of the United States took tens of thousands of American citizens prisoner and detained them for years without letting any one of them see a lawyer.

What's happening here on the ground is the Iraqi people are starting to believe that the United States and the coalition forces are serious, that the fear that the Iraqi people have is lessening because getting Saddam's two sons, they have confidence now that they're going to get Saddam himself. So things are improving, day by day here on the ground.
